Metal detectors still won't stop a mass shooter, this guy pulled the fire alarm......he could have simply stepped outside, retrieved his gun and started shooting the kids outside...or simply walked up to the metal detector and shot the guy operating it...then walked into the school....

If you see something, say something needs to be drilled into the students...since they know who these kids are before these things happen.

. The idea behind securing the schools is to sit down and listen to all the ideas or senarios, and then take action. Metal detectors are just one aspect of the layers that need to be created, and it can be done. We as a people/nation have invented some of the most ingenious things, and we have built some of the most unbelievable structures and architecture the world has known, but we can't save our children's lives ??? I would rather see a conversation about how our culture and education system has been failing males for the last several decades. How our society feels the need to overmedicate youth.

Your solution is to treat everyone as a bad guy. Except of course government actors and the powerful who will do what they want no matter what laws we pass.

And any weapon capable of firing multiple rounds in seconds is a weapon of war. For defense you need a six shot revolver. If you cannot stop the situation and finds means of escape after six shots, you are the menace. So many stray bullets flying around is a public health hazard.

Can't keep the guns from the bad guys. It's impossible. That's the thing. Look at Britain. Only the bad guys have guns: everyone else is disarmed and constantly mugged and robbed and victimized and they are hardly ever sent to prison.

Ages 16 to 22, lots of schizophrenia developing. The more I read about this Cruz kid, the more likely it seems he was a schizophrenic. He would daily pull the fire alarm bells at school in middle school, till they expelled him then. And obsessed with guns. Sounds like the Sandy Hook kid.

I like the idea someone said on Fox that they should have drills for this, because there are constant fire drills, but no fires in schools ----- yet no active shooter drills and lots of school shootings these days. I know they don't because it would give kids ideas, but I'd say they've already got ideas ---- drill them and take that time to make it seem reprehensible to do such things. Now they just aren't talking about it: that's clearly not working.
