A New York couple took their 30-year-old son to court because he refused to move out

i dont think the transition is ever easy.....long hours and shitty pay....has always been entry level for 18 yr olds....its not like tht is a new thing or millennial have it tougher than other generations
Oh yes it is... 35 years of GOP giveaway to the rich and screwing the rest means it is harder than ever... They can do that with 51 votes in the Senate but it takes 60 votes for good democratic reform. Thank you scumbag GOP and silly Dupes...

I left home at 15. Imagine my shock when my 32 year old son not only did not want to leave but he didn't want to do anything either. Push came to shove and I was in a position where I told him he had to get a job or leave. I could not bear the burden of dead weight any longer. He not only went to work but he met his wife who whipped him into shape in no time flat.

millenials are regularly and troublingly flat-footed about situations in which smart, lively 18 to 22 year olds should have no difficulty leaning in and righting the world!
meh. I don't buy that. THIS guy is a douchebag loser, but to dismiss an entire generation in this manner is folly.

I grew up in the ideal 50s/early 60s household (think Leave it to Beaver or Ozzie and Harriet) but I still couldn’t wait to get out on my own.

I was 19 when I moved out. Rented a house with four other guys. It was great.

Then the draft came along and fucked everything up.

Tell me, what year were you 25 years old?

2005-2006 ... But it doesn't matter unless you would like to make an excuse.
You can do the same thing today that I did then.

.

So you're a millienal then. That's nice you were able to travel the world and be free of college debt. But you are very naive to think that it is easy for everyone to do that at 25.

I worked full time throughout my whole time in college and I still winded up debt because college is that expensive.
Sheepskins Are for Sheep

If college students aren't paid a salary, they have no right to be in college. Bootlicking brownnoses willing to humiliate themselves to please freeloading future employers are dredged from the shallow end of the talent pool.
The plutocratic parasites better start preaching what they practice, giving the talented the same high allowance and paid-up tuition they give their sons, or a proud generation of High IQs may arise and make sure those spoiled brats never graduate. "Working your way through college" is misleading and insulting. College is work; it's work without pay only because fatcats love mice.

Blathering nonsense trying to politicize this.
Yes everything is fine, super duper.

Over the past 35 years the American dream has gradually disappeared. The process was slow, so most people didn’t notice. They just worked a few more hours, borrowed a little more and cut back on non-essentials. But looking at the numbers and comparing them over long time periods, it is obvious that things have changed drastically. Here are the details:

1. WORKERS PRODUCE MORE BUT THE GAINS GO TO BUSINESS.

Over the past 63 years worker productivity has grown by 2.0% per year.

But after 1980, workers received a smaller share every year. Labor’s share of income (1992 = 100%):

1950 = 101%
1960 = 105%
1970 = 105%
1980 = 105% – Reagan
1990 = 100%
2000 = 96%
2007 = 92%

A 13% drop since 1980

2. THE TOP 10% GET A LARGER SHARE.

Share of National Income going to Top 10%:

1950 = 35%
1960 = 34%
1970 = 34%
1980 = 34% – Reagan
1990 = 40%
2000 = 47%
2007 = 50%

An increase of 16% since Reagan.

3. WORKERS COMPENSATED FOR THE LOSS OF INCOME BY SPENDING THEIR SAVINGS.

The savings Rose up to Reagan and fell during and after.

1950 = 6.0%
1960 = 7.0%
1970 = 8.5%
1980 = 10.0% – Reagan
1982 = 11.2% – Peak
1990 = 7.0%
2000 = 2.0%
2006 = -1.1% (Negative = withdrawing from savings)

A 12.3% drop after Reagan.

4. WORKERS ALSO BORROWED TO MAKE UP FOR THE LOSS.

Household Debt as percentage of GDP:

1965 = 46%
1970 = 45%
1980 = 50% – Reagan
1990 = 61%
2000 = 69%
2007 = 95%

A 45% increase after 1980.

5. SO THE GAP BETWEEN THE RICHEST AND THE POOREST HAS GROWN.

Gap Between the Share of Capital Income earned by the top 1%
and the bottom 80%:

1980 = 10%
2003 = 56%

A 5.6 times increase.

6. AND THE AMERICAN DREAM IS GONE.

The Probably of Moving Up from the Bottom 40% to the Top 40%:

1945 = 12%
1958 = 6%
1990 = 3%
2000 = 2%

A 10% Decrease.

It is OK. I get it. You are not very bright, and try to compensate by turning everything political. to pretend that this dipshit living at home with his parents at 32 years of age is because of Trump, is sheer stupidity.

Uh college and you still don't know that the past tense of wind is wound, not winded?
What a waste of money.
Language Deficiency Carries Over to Job-Related Subjects

Also millennial, not "millenal." But what do you expect from people who think sacrifice has merit? Only natural talent does, and only parasites and jealous Low IQs want the talented to sacrifice.

High IQs create all the wealth of the plutocracy.. If they had any self-respect, they'd instead use their talent to confiscate that extorted money..

Exactly.
My first job was 2nd shift making $4.85/hr. It sucked. But I needed money till I found a good job in my field.
I left my parents house at 19, never went back, split rent with two other guys for one year, which also sucked...but you do what you have to do.

All of your average individuals start out at the bottom with crap jobs. Most young adults change jobs several times before settling into what they are satisfied or somewhat satisfied with. I performed a good many low-pay, few, if any, benefits jobs until I finally settled into a career. Go into North Korea (communism), you will see almost exclusively, poverty and hunger. Go to Venezuela and you will see poverty and hunger. Go to Sweden, Germany, or Paris and you will see their social systems rapidly collapsing due to the huge influx of people from outside Europe. Homeless people line the streets in Paris. As for health care, no matter who you are, all people, rich or poor can obtain emergency health care. I worked in health care for many years and what I see come through those doors are people coming in for things like "colds, flus, seasonal allergies, blisters, et cetera; things that cause hours long waiting times to be seen, for conditions that can be treated at home by going to a pharmacy and buying over-the-counter medications at a huge fraction of the cost of going to a doctor.
This nation isn't perfect, no nation is, and all nations have poor people, but millions have traveled here, fleeing religious theocracies, communism, socialism, military juntas and the like and the reason they fled here has been they wanted "individual" freedoms and the right to pursue their own dreams, with less government ruling over them.

Jobs may be crap because they're competing with SLAVES imported from Mexico by the Democrats and too many Republicans.

College is expensive because Democrats got the government involved. Unlimited deep pockets means tuition goes up.

You have yourselves to blame

College is expensive because of our greedy capitalist society.

There needs to be a public 4 year option. Other countries have public universities or heavily discounted tuition for citizens.

No other first world nation has their citizens in college debt.

I got money that says this lazy piece of shit

and his parents are liberals……..

The end result of pc bs liberalism.

I moved out in my senior year of high school

and I have made it to the top of the mountain.

I know I’m not the brightest bulb in the pack,

but If I can do it most don’t have any real excuses.

Liberals are all excuses for their shortcomings

Sorry, NO. HELL NO.

Socialistic meddling causes increases in EVERYTHING. The Free Market always wins. If an institution has access to unlimited funds (government/Taxpayer), prices rise accordingly.

If the government got out of this, prices would reflect what CONSUMERS can afford to pay. That's how real life works.
