A fair way to end unemployment immediately!

we could end unemployment right now buy cutting public employee wages by 60% (since they make double the going wage and work 10% less) and use the money to hire every single unemployed person!!

Don't tell me liberal public employee goons aren't deadly to our economy!!

I have said this from the start of the depression. We can cut the government wages in half to hire way more than twice as many people, because we are paying the unemployed to sit on their ass & eat, why not a little more to work instead. They can build many things that benefit us all but were not economically feasible for private industry. This could spur more job growth & higher wages. The unemployed are a wasted national resource.

Did you realize that governments do not, by and large, building anything? They hire private companies to do that.

It is an easy thing to say we need to cut government employees, but exactly what employees are we talking about? Fire, police, teachers, building inspectors, health inspectors, military, the people who pay the private companies and the fire, police etc? What exactly are these unnecessary jobs being done by government employees?

I did not say cut the number of employees, I said cut their pay in half. Take that savings plus what we are already paying the unemployed & hire them WPA style to build stuff like bridges, power grid, fiber optic networks, sewage systems, water treatment plants, dams, parks & recreation areas, clinics, hospitals, government buildings, maybe even train rails & stations or rehab, insulate & lower energy consumption on older buildings & HUD apartments, etc. There is always something they can be doing to improve society.

There are a lot of professional people & college grads out of work who are very talented if we give them a chance. Currently my tax dollars are paying to waste their productive value & overpaying government employees. Government is destroying capital & labor on purpose. This is why people hate to pay taxes to our stupid inefficient government. If we got good return on investment, we would not bitch so much about paying taxes.

Obama is no FDR. At least FDR hired WPA workers to build a great society making the country more efficient. Obama like Bush is trying to make the country less efficient. He will not be remembered fondly if this does not change.

Democrats cheer the government single payer insurance competing with private insurance companies. Why not have government compete in building society instead of being a boat anchor trying to destroy what they view as excessive production?

ANd of course then you would not have to pay unemployment comp. either!!

Yes, you keep saying that. What job exactly are you talking about? Name me a government job, tell me what the salary is and the current salary of an equivelant private position.

For example, the secretary of state makes $186,600 and is the CEO of an organization that operates world wide and employs about 22,000 people. Name me a CEO of a private company that size and with a similar operations base who makes half that salary. It should be easy enough to do.

As I said, government employees don't build things. They hire private contractors to do that. So what you are suggesting is to cut the salary of those who hire private contractors and use the money saved to fire the private contractors and then take the people who lose their jobs as a result to make them do the same job for less money, and significantly increase the size of the government. That's the plan?

I did not say to fire private contractors. But we should if they are overcharging us for what we are buying.

The government can cut all current government employees pay & benefits in half to the same average pay of non-government workers. Then government can become it's own contractor, hire the unemployed they are currently paying not to work & use them to build stuff. Instead Government is trying to destroy what they view as excessive production.

It's not complicated. Government can be productive if that were it's goal & properly managed. Government's current goal is to over pay it's employees, unemployed & contractors who contribute to their campaign instead of being productive. Obama is not running again & therefore should stop repaying political cronies & be productive for the country.

it would be a waste since government has a monopoly and so would be very very liberal and inefficient. Far better to use the savings to have the private sector build stuff after competitive bidding.

Yes competitive bidding, instead of political favors.

yes 73% of Barry's energy money went to his bundlers, Solynrda and A123 Ssystems, included!! Its inevitable so the first order of business is always small government in keeping with our Founders theory. Treasonous liberals should be illegal as the Constitution intended.

We have treasonous assholes on both sides.

1.) We need to cut government employee pay.
2.) Give the Middle Class a tax cut to grow jobs end the tax redistribution to the monopolistic Rich.

who and why??????? you forgot to say/ Its a little detail

1.) We need to cut government employee pay.

yes they get double pay and work 10% less

Give the Middle Class a tax cut to grow jobs

a) they don't pay much tax and they don't invent new products that create jobs. What planet have you been on????

end the tax redistribution to the monopolistic Rich.

If the top 1% pay 40% of all federal income tax the redistribution is obviously from them, not too them.

See why we are positive a liberal will be so very very slow??

The Middle Class are being forced to subsidize the Rich with Taxes. That is an undeniable fact that you continue to lie about!

The Middle Class are the inventors & job creators. The Rich only invest in established growing companies created by the Middle Class. The Rich Monopolies already have enough money to create jobs, but they are not as efficient at discovering new innovations like the Middle Class.

Middle Class, Friends Family & Fools invented, discovered & invested in startup's like Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Elon Musk, Nicola Tesla, etc. There are far more Middle Class inventors, minds & discovers than 400 subsidized super rich entitled elite. If the Middle Class has more income, they will create far more than the Rich who have more than enough to create jobs but fail to get the job done.

Rich Monopolies are not competitive. They choke the economy & should never be subsidized by Middle Class Job Creators. The Rich should actually subsidize the Middle Class to create more wealth.

IF so why not present evidence rather than try to change the subject and hope no one will notice??

I linked to the evidence that you can't refute. Therefore you reverted to distractions about how you suck off your rich master.

It isn't complicated if you pretend your facts are correct. They are not correct.

was figuring the moochers would come over and cut grass, clean rain gutters and paint.

None have done it.

Too easy to sit at home

What exactly are these unnecessary jobs being done by government employees?

we didn't say they were unnecessary but that they get double the going pay and work 10% less. So, if you cut their pay in half, made them work a normal work day, you could hire all the unemployed in America and in effect end this depression without any more taxes.
ANd of course then you would not have to pay unemployment comp. either!!
I'm getting tired of your broad-brush statements. Perhaps you should stop making them.

Unless you really believe that I, who makes about twice minimum wage and works 40 hours a week, am making twice what a civilian equivalent makes (contract inspection/QAE) and am not working a normal work day...?

The argument is being made based upon a single comparison, which does not even compare anything. If people were actually interested in an accurate comparison, then they would take the average salary of a licensed physician in government service and compare that to licensed physicians in the general population. I guarantee it is lower. You can do the same thing with civil engineers, accountants, HR specialists. Compare apples to apples. The problem is, that would provide an accurate comparison and that won't support the basic premise. So it isn't going to happen.

Luckily, the people who are in a place to make these kind of decisions don't typically live in a fantasy world. So it is just a silly claim made by people who have not the slightest idea what they are talking about.

The closer you get to the edges of the bell curve on either side, the more emotion controls reason.
