Correct and the workforce was unable to function due to the numbers. A light bulb would fail in an office so production would stop while an engineer went and had a look at the situation. He would make his report and send it to the plant manager to sign off. Everyone went home as they had finished their shift. The next shift came on duty and waited for the all clear to start production. The on coming shift manager sent his engineer to have a look and he reported that the light had failed and a new one was needed from the stores. The manager asked for its part number so the engineer went to his office to look through the books until he found it, He then gave it to the manager to raise the stores requisition. Once raised the engineer had one of his electricians go to the stores on the other side of the works and draw a light bulb to fit in the lamp. The electrician returns and the engineer has to start raising a work docket allowing the electrician to cross union demarcation lines and enter a production area. Another full shift has went by and still no production. Eventually the electrician enters the office and fits the new light accompanied by an apprentice, an electricians mate and a safety man to hold the steps. The bulb is replaced and there is light again so the word is passed to start production, but the delay was too long and the plant is frozen and needs to be warmed up for a full shift.

That was just one of millions of other things that happened were I worked every day. So the best thing they ever did was get rid of the outdated plant that cost more to run than it produced. Get rid of the people without jobs who were just working their ticket to get full pension rights and streamline the industries. Could you justify producing a product that sold only 2 a year and was operated at a massive loss

A massive cut in wages by introducing a 3 day week to allow the power stations to keep the sick alive. The union leaders were given full wages because they were needed in case of any disputes, and many worked overtime as well. The workers eyes were opened in that last 6 months of a failing neo marxist led government and they voted in Maggie who curbed the unions power and regained control of the UK back from Brusse3lls
