A contestant for Miss USA said health care was a “privilege,” not a right. Minutes later, she won

a black woman from DC and she's conservative! SHE WON!

And too stupid to know what a democratic morons is all about

Yawn. The study was started before a cure for syphilis was found. While it was some bad science there, most of the men couldn't be treated even after a cure was found because the disease had progressed too far.

the point went totally over your head , typical of a democrat though.

Everything is politicized. So no crimes of wrongthink can be tolerated by the left. Every celebrity is now hounded by a new breed of social jusitce paparazzi waiting to pounce on some thoughtcrime of political incorrectness.

...

Social justice crybullies did not take long to attack. And the same media that claims conservatives are attacking female social justice advocates on Twitter joined in. And soon social justice was achieved.

...

There we go. All crimes against the left recanted.

The entire argument is absurd. Of course we're privileged to have health care. Or a house. Or a car. These are not rights. Just because something is vital and needed does not make it a right. Rights are freedoms we have from government authority. Getting something for free is not a right. It's charity. And charity is a wonderful thing. But if you haven't paid into it, it's not a right. If you're getting it for free, it's not a right.

No, it really didn't. You guys, who generally have no problem with racism, are upset that racism crept into a study, but really had no effect on the results of that study.

There was no cure for syphillis when the study started, and by the time it ended, most of the participants couldn't have been treated because their cases had progressed too far.

There's nothing advanced, nor progressive, about coercive control over the needs of the plebes. It's been a staple of authoritarian government since the first warlord started spinning tales of dragons.
Well, I'm selfish.

I don't like paying higher premiums because I'm also paying for the health care of those who can't afford it - and worse, because they don't have access to preventive and diagnostic services, and they're going to jam Emergency Rooms for pretty much everything, so their care is even MORE expensive.

There are ways to fix those problems that don't involve forcing your neighbors to abide by your insurance preferences.
Well, good luck with that. Toss out the ideas if you have them.
.

Well, if it really gnaws at you to pay for people who can't afford health insurance, the first step would be to repeal EMTALA.

VA & Medicare for all !!!!!

As long as civil servants run it at astronomical losses
For the people !

No, that's the humane and sensible thing to do.

What annoys me is the gross inefficiency of it all.

We could go to single payer, but "eek, socialism!" We might have to actually pay attention to who we vote for instead of treating picking the Leader of the Free World like picking the Winner of American Idol.

Instead, we do a soft socialism of some of us paying for insurance or working for insurance, and then paying higher prices for services because the hospitals have to make up the costs of the bills they will never collect on when someone shows up at an emergency room instead of a clinic.

It's still socialism. You are either paying in more than you are getting out, or someone else is covering your expenses if you get really sick that year. It's just inefficient because we are carrying a lot of non-value added things like returns on investments for stockholders and nine-figure salaries for insurance execs. None of which add to the value of health care.

That's exactly why we shouldn't do it. I don't want the necessities of life up for grabs with every fucking election.

Yep. It's much worse than socialism, actually. But delusion is the soul of politics.

Thank goodness she clarified. Healthcare should be a right. If it's good for some, it's good for all.

Well of course.

Children need to understand that their health care should depend on decisions that their parents make in all facets of their financial lives. If a family can't afford health care, the children should not complain if their medical problems go unattended.

Health care should be just like buying a big, fancy new house. If you don't have the money, tough shit, maybe someday.
.
Just like schooling....if you don't like free public school, don't have the kids you can't affort to have tutored or send to the private school of your choice.

Don't you mean "indoctrination centers" instead of "public school system"? Because that is exactly what they are. They don't teach kids how think, they teach them what to think and no critical thinking is allowed. Thankfully, I taught my children how to think for themselves and toss off the indoctrination....too many parents don't. They see it as a "daycare" of sorts. I bet that being the good little commie that you are? You belonged to the PTA and pushed for GLSEN to come into the schools and preach the gospel about faggotry and trans-genderism because it's so "liberal".
