WeirdIt only helped those who itemized. Only 30% of the overall population itemized and Trump doubled the standard deduction so even fewer will. Another fake story from deantard. Most of the drivers never took advantage of that per diem and even fewer will now.
Truckers used to have something called Per diem that was tax-deductible.
That was the money that they spent on food and daily expenses while they were driving.
Gone.
So the owners of the truck company got huge tax breaks, but the average trucker salary went up $8000 or more.
And they got rid of some of those onerous regulations that protect drivers from fatigue and over long of hours.
So now drivers can work longer and harder for less. And you have to thank Donald Trump and the GOP for that. That’s 7 million workers in a nearly billion dollar industry.
ending-the-confusion-over-per-diem
Obviously truckers are not the only blue-collar workers that Trump and the GOP have super screwed over. But this thread is just about
how they’re screwing over truckers.
Do you think those truckers are still going to vote GOP? Would you? And if you would, why?
I think Donald Trump and the Republicans are really motivating these truck drivers to vote.
Fake News Deantard.
That is the standard deduction.
For company drivers, though, the situation is a bit cloudier. They have lost that $63 deduction, but individual (or married) tax filers receive the larger standard deductions ($12,000 for individuals, $24,000 for married filing jointly) now available. Will those deductions be enough to offset the loss of the per diem? That depends on the individual tax situation of each driver.
It could become an important driver benefit issue moving forward, Rutherford says, as carriers could still offer the $63 as a pre-tax benefit, if they choose.
everyone receives it. We get that and we are not truck drivers. The standard deduction turned out to be a real loser.
You post this:
Will those deductions be enough to offset the loss of the per diem? That depends on the individual tax situation of each driver.
And then say everyone gets it. You can’t post something and then pretend it says something different than what it says. Will those deductions be enough to offset the loss of the per diem? That depends on the individual tax situation of each driver.
I didn't post that, its from your article. I said everyone gets the standard deduction regardless if they drive truck or not. It shouldn't matter what the standard deduction is, they have costs over and beyond the average cost of working.
