from where i sit, it appears that the tea party has become a republican method of getting their politicians back in office. it's now far from what it was originally started for. but then again, is there anyone in the US that couldn't see what was going to happen to it?

Actually it represents the split between the Blue Bloods in the Party, both Parties, and those in the trenches. This is about restoration of sanity on the Political Spectrum. We are taking our Country back. Deal with it.

Yeah, sorta reminds me of when Dole ran. The Power of Legislation is with Congress, not the President. Supreme Court Nominations is another matter.
I'm less uncomfortable with Romney, though I am not into his Political view, I think he is a more honorable decent human being. The Puppet Masters do a good job of muddying up the waters. I don't like Handlers. We should expose them for who and what they are and expose their ties to both Parties.
I have been to many Tea Party meetings...I would say the majority are blue collar, those that don't work are retired and the majority of them were blue collar.

That 3% of their income that they then turned around and used for other expenses, claiming that they had only "borrowed" the money?

No, that wasn't the deal. The deal was changed.
The government started borrowing from the fund, and then turned up the rate of contribution.
And then people started having less children, later in life, and living to be longer.
So, if we were to stick to the deal, those people should have all the money that was "borrowed" to pay for other things deducted from their benefits.
Again, they are living off of the largess of the state at this point, because they didn't pay in enough to justify what they are receiving, and they spent it anyway.
