15 States Shut Out Food Aid for 8 Million Children

Sure it is....it fits the description of wealth redistribution quite nicely. Not all redistribution is bad ....some is actually needed. When it reaches the point wherein the redistribution brcomes the official occupation of the recipients now you have communist Marxism. We have both of those in some areas.

Our society is partially built on socialist values
Not necessarily a bad thing as long as they don't become the main driver. Hell social security is a perfect example. It becomes communism when individual achievement is forcibly blunted in the name of egalitarianism. As for programs like food for kids i suppose it depends on what the state wants in return.

The point is that they eventually do become main drivers....Socialist Insecurity and these food programs are great examples.

People have 15% of their overall income stolen and sent to the cynically dubbed "trust fund" for SS and Medicare...But the pittance ROI on that is beneath that of the most modest of index funds.....But don't dare even speak of reforming or *gasp * phasing it out....That means you want to throw gramma over a cliff!

Ditto these food programs....Never mind that the very well heeled federal bureaucrats suck out a significant portion of the loot collected for them, in order to cover their lavish DC lifestyles.... lf you propose going anywhere near them, you hate the cheeeeellllldrennnnnnn.

And so it goes.

Let me fix the thread title for the bleeding heart OP:

'15 States Work To Break The Cycle Of Addiction To Government Handouts'

Those states don't want people having kids. So people should comply. Then this is no issue. It's a pro life stance kind of.

The electoral college only applies to the big election. In all others, the majority rules. So. yes they can.
I asked if they should be able to, not if they can. Do you think they should be able to?

All of them with republican governors, of course.

The only reason I can see for this is to hurt people. Oh they whine about other shit like the administrative end of it or it's lack of flexibility for the states but the real reason is to hurt poor children and their families.

Remember, when it comes to republicans the cruelty is the point.
how does a state governor make decisions on a
federal program?----just asking.
