holy shit! nature is so unpredictably predictable! i posit the fish has read some american takes on dieting (surely a few newspapers are in the lake). So it comes down to food but this fish wasn't satisfied with his normal bait. He wants to get lighter by eating feathery foods to trim the pounds so he isn't targetted for fishing.

None of that makes sense so don't try hard.
