If they do not retaliate and accept thise terms - Russia won. If they do not accept those terms and attack Russian cities (counter-value strike) Russia will suffer pretty acceptable loses, but then, in return, Russia will kill more than 90% of British and French population and also won.

II. If Trump say, that the UK and France attacked Russia by his, Trump, order, it means that United States openly declared war to Russia. And then Russia has only one option to survive - attack United States first and try to eliminate as much of US nukes as it possible (plus defend their own civilians by evacuation and sheltering). Of course it will be gambling, but Russia has pretty good chance to suffer more or less acceptable damage - lesser than 40 mln Russian killed.

Russia do want return Alaska and California but not ready to pay more than 1 mln lives for it. America do want take Crimea and Novorussia, but not ready to pay more than 1 mln of American lives for it.
America is ready to defend Alaska and California (even by nuclear attack agaisnt Russia) and pay for that defend even 50 mln of lives if necessary.

Russia do understand that there is no practically possible way to capture Alaska and Novorussia and pay for it less than 1 mln lives.
