Initially, universities were well-meaning in that they offered only majors in areas that meant upward movement. Sadly, they started offering majors in stupid crap that couldn't actually generate meaningful occupations.
With this new administration, they are opening up steel and ship building again to create more warships for the fleet and supply ships for the fleet. So, once it's up and running, they will need welders, electrical engineers and installers, et cetera.
