A number of things went wrong, including his lack of understanding of basic gun safety! A firearm is inanimate object. But you gotta understand every type of them. You don’t have to pull a trigger for a gun to go off. Pull the hammer back on many older single action/double action pistols and let the hammer loose it will shoot. I think that’s what happened, ultimately because of lack of basic firearm training he caused this. Now, he would still be stupid if he actually did pull the trigger thinking there was blanks in there and he hadn’t checked it beforehand. Ultimately, he is responsible.
