Wow, Now Even CBS Is Realizing There Is No Inflation From Tariffs

Yes, my wife.

Are you now arguing sales taxes don't exist?
You should order some coffee from Hawaii, California, Or Puerto Rico before the missus beats you up again, Buttercup.

On Nov 5 last year CBS suggested that an analysis of the stock market predicts a Kamala victory. CBS didn't know shit then and still don't.

Not now. Thats what a tariff is.
No, tariffs have always been legal. They are not a sales tax.

Tariffs are taxes on imports, they are put on those doing the importing.

A sales tax is a percentage of the total price of a good or service and are a cross the board

Tariffs are more akin to Corp taxes, but are only put on the imported goods that business/importer gets from the country with the tariff

You really are out of your league here....

That's bad when even CBS is forced to acknowledge the truth. But, lefties take heart, inflation is still right around the corner. Any day now.

How come you fools never read past the headlines of your links? I think it is because you have the intellectual bandwidth of a bumper sticker.

From your link:

For now, many retailers are eating the additional tariff costs.

Businesses "have been willing to absorb the initial hit via lower margins, although we suspect that was mostly a temporary development as those firms waited for more clarity on where tariff rates would settle," analysts with investment adviser Capital Economics said in a recent report.

"We doubt that is a sustainable outcome over the longer term, however. As the uncertainty over tariff levels eases over the next couple of weeks, giving retailers more clarity on rates over the next year or two, we would expect more firms to raise prices," they said.

Tariffs tend to boost inflation gradually

Tariffs typically take many months to seep into company supply chains and show up in the prices consumers pay at the store.

The full impact of tariffs plays out not immediately but over an extended period of time, peaking roughly a year after they take effect, a June Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas report noted. That means any U.S. tariffs imposed this year would be unlikely to have much of an impact on inflation until later this year and into 2026.

What's more, Trump said he would bring down the cost of groceries on day one.

Instead, groceries are higher. Utility bills are much higher. Clothing and shoes are higher, just in time for back-to-school shopping.

Do you magical thinkers bleev Americans aren't noticing these things?

Do you fools bleev the Administration with the most billionaires in history is looking out for YOU? :laughing0301: :auiqs.jpg:

Trump's import taxes are going to be passed on to you, fool.

97 percent of importers are small businesses, and Trump is threatening their survival.

Small U.S. Businesses Paying Trump Tariffs Face a $202 Billion Hit

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce estimated this month that the country has about 236,000 small-business importers—those with fewer than 500 employees. The goods they bought from abroad were worth more than $868 billion in 2023.

Based on an estimate before Trump’s duties took effect Aug. 7, the combined annual tariff hit to those companies is $202 billion, according to the chamber, the nation’s largest business lobbying group. That works out to about $856,000 per firm a year.

Through June, businesses in the U.S. absorbed more than half the cost of Trump’s tariffs, with the rest picked up by foreign exporters and American consumers, according to a research note Sunday from Goldman Sachs economists. In coming months, the burden will shift away from importers and the share shouldered by consumers will rise to 67%, it said.

“Small businesses especially are grappling with the ability to stay in business,” NRF Vice President for Supply Chain and Customs Policy Jonathan Gold said in a statement last week.

The NRF and Hackett Associates produce a monthly outlook in their Global Port Tracker that forecasts a sharp drop in U.S. imports starting in September after first-half gains—a turnaround tied to Washington’s “hither-and-thither approach of on-again, off-again tariffs,” Hackett Associates Founder Ben Hackett said.

Thread title is a lie, naturally.

The point is that the expected inflation spike has not yet materialized, though some inflation has.

But, keep in kind, many tarrifs just went into effect in the last 10 days.

The inflation spike is inevitable. It's mathematics, not a shaman reading goat guts.

It will be especially fun to watch the faces of MAGAts when prices of American made goods go up as well. I wonder what fantasy they will invent?

Oh, like all Corp taxes, I have no doubt that some might be passed on to consumers.

And yes, like corp taxes, small businesses often get hit the hardest. With that said, Trump and the GOP keep Corp taxes rates low, to balance this out...and hopefully businesses can find alternatives to foreign imports, and we can also work out trade deals

Google, tariffs and inflation if you have a brain. If a Trump follower, you are disqualified as you lack a brain. Sorry.

Oh goodie, more silly BlueAnon doom and gloom predictions that never materialize. How sad.

Its still money the government is taking from you.
well no shit, that's what a tax is.

The difference here is that I don't have to buy the product. Unlike the Govt taking money that I earn.

All taxes impact prices of goods and services. Corp taxes for example are across the board on all American businesses, and are passed down through prices. Income taxes are across the board and impact spending power.

Tariffs are on specific goods, services and or countries.

I am not sure why you dembots are just learning this and have been the same fools saying we need higher corp taxes across the board
