Wouldn't it be cool if we sent a man into Neptune? With cameras, pressure and temperature gauges to study each layer of the planet as he goes down. The core is solid and is bigger then earth. Maybe he could land on it and collect some 5 or 10 pound diamonds to take back?

pretty much attempt to land on the solid surface.

Choose some old crazy man from off the street and use a.i fly the ship to Neptune.

If he can collect a diamond he will own it and will be rich. I know a man under a bridge up the street that screams at all hours of the day!!! He is homeless and would be a billionaire if he was successful in this mission.

Have you gone mad?

Jupiter is much closer

Can I sign you up to go?

Neptune likely has diamonds and is smaller so maybe it is relatively more likely to reach the surface comparably.

Cheaper and easier to send an unmanned probe.

The atmosphere pressure is 100,000x Earth’s. He’d be crushed like a soda can long before making it to the solid surface.

there was a cool video series on youtube about what would happen if a human tried to land on various planets, neptune you would die very fast
besides some 1300 mph winds blowing ice chunks that look like diamonds the temp is some -300F and the gravity would crush you as well

Yeah.... except he'd die.

Could take 15 years to get there give or take a couple of years...
and one man couldn't make the trip... he would need medical doctors.... surgeons.... biologists... maintenance personnel...
He would need indoor fields for gardens... no one can live on meatloaf in a tube for 15 years...

It is also kinda cold...

The average temperature on Neptune is around -353 degrees Fahrenheit
