Would you want to represent a deadbeat?
Why not? We have a total deadbeat representing us now!
Lawyers don't care if you are a deadbeat, they care about two things:
- A case they can WIN and make a lot of money at.
- A victory that advances their career and reputation.
Nice of your article to pick a lawyer from the university of Berkeley, one of the most leftwing schools in the country, for opinion!
If a law firm is passing on Trump, it isn't because he is a "deadbeat," but because:
A). They don't see strong enough chance of executive privilege being held up under the current administration.
B). They consider handling the client's case too toxic in the present situation, something both Trump AND the democrats both share responsibility for creating so.
Let's face it-- -- even if executive privilege is something any other president would and could use in this situation and be supported by the government, we all know that even if it has legal precedence, the democrats and Biden will do all within their ability to deny Trump that.
The democrats have been absolutely scared shitless of Trump holding office ever since he first mentioned it six years ago for the existential threat he represents to the entrenched deep state.
