Would you support this law?

That is a right wing talking point that has been completely debunked!
When Social Security was enacted, only 5.4% of the population was over 65.

When Medicare was enacted in 1965, 9% of the population was over 65.

Today, 16 percent of the population is over 65.

A smaller and smaller percentage of the population is supporting a larger and larger percentage of the population.

This fact cannot be debunked.

We are living DECADES longer than our ancestors. We should be working longer.

I'm 65 and I'm still working.

Au contraire. With the millions of illegals that Biden has imported recently, there will be plenty of new workers to support SS AND all the homeless that will result in said illegal invasion.
That's not what the government is saying.

I have the following quote from the SS administration, complete with link. What do you have to support your assertion? Go.

"In 2022, there are an estimated 2.8 covered workers per each Social Security beneficiary. By 2035, the Trustees estimate there will be 2.3 covered workers for each beneficiary."

https://www.ssa.gov/news/press/factsheets/basicfact-alt.pdf#:~:text=In 2022, there are an estimated 2.8 covered,as defined in the Social Security Trustees Report.
Trust me. I would not lie.

LOL....Tater stuck his foot in it again and OP is flailing about trying to cover for him.

Don't answer the question, just poke fun at him. ;)
I dont' doubt it. G.G. is a shadow of his former libertarian self. But, what did Biden say that G.G. is defending? Sorry, I didn't see whole SOTU because my wife insisted we play the take-a-shot-everytime-Biden-sounds-dumb game because she wanted us to get to sleep early.

No, because they wouldn't follow it.
Or they'd just look at the program and say, "Yep. Still needed."
only after the law that requires all bills be read out loud to all congress critters on the house floor before a vote,,
Now, that is a good goldang idea! That would slow those drunken sailors a little.
Yeah, about that...TOO LATE.

I'm pretty sure govt officials have not only 'touched' your SS ... but have been seen stuffing some of your money in $1 increments into the G-strings of men during Cross-Dresser Story Hour at your kids' local school.

:itsok:
It amazes me that people don't realize that incoming social security payments are used to pay those who are already required and that the remainder is use to buy treasury bonds, i.e. given to the government in exchange for paper. The government spends that money immediatly, double counting the money it was paid for the bonds, and the bonds themselves as assets in order to make the deficit look smaller.

No one in their right minds believes that it is sustainable. The trick to delaying the inevitable collapse will be to vote in minimum age increases and payment decreases that will only affect current contributors who are in their thirties and below, who aren't thinking about retirement yet. Eventually, the SS payments will be a token payment that is only paid to the fraction of the population that lives long enough to qualify and thus Social Security will have been "saved."

Nobody read it moron. You know, the subject of the thread? They should NEVER be able to vote on a bill, any bill until it's been read. You Progs really are idiots.
That's what they have staffers for, knucklehead. To pick these bills apart. But ALL of them should read it at least once before they give to the staffers to reduce to consumable bits.

The ACA was more than well explained. Until everyone got their hair lit on fire because...SOCIALISM!!!! Republicans got to introduce a ton of amendments to bill...and then ran away like the little weasels they were.
To be fair, most Democrats pussied out and were no better in backing their President up.

Bunch of Scooby Doos. :)

Biden suggested this back in the 70s.

Clealry he does not support it any longer.

But if he did I would finally have something to agree with him on

Definitely need to rid ourselves of some laws. Over a million lines of codified law and ignorance is no excuse. Seems like a load of horse crap to me.
