We already have tatoo-like stickers that use a very similar set up as modern cellphone barcodes (that's the dotty square you can use your phone to look shit up with) for storing medical information and so forth. However, I'd like something that cannot be stolen and doesn't ever get lost personally. (I want to put my ID, credit cards, all of that stuff in it so I don't have to carry the damn things - I hate purses.)

One of my fans just had an incident where they were locked out of their cellphone which has a thumb scanner lock. The screen had a tiny scratch in it so it couldn't read the print correctly anymore. They had to hard format their phone and lost everything on it.

This has kind of set me back a hair on the idea of thumb prints for voter ID... How are we going to ensure the scanners don't get a scratch or that a voter's not damaged their thumb? It's not like voting is something that's done every day, it's a once every like two years thing - having the systems go down then would be a really bad thing and could actually rise to the level of suppressing voters (though unintentionally I'd hope)

Is there a better scanner system out there that doesn't have such problems? How reliable is finger print scanning?

They do ask for a photo ID where I live. Regardless of my age, gender, or ethnic/racial background, I have managed to acquire the requisite ID.

You scan your ID and all of your medical records are accessible to any doctor or pharmacist or hospital. Go to an emergency room anywhere in the country and your medical history and doctors come up on the screen

I saw an election worker, many times, ask for an opened piece of mail with the person's address on it, to make sure they are in the right location. And those that didn't have anything, got to vote anyhow.

We never ask for ID or mail. Tell us your name, sign, vote. I have never had someone that found someone else had voted in their place.

I had to be fingerprinted about 25 years ago for a license in my field and I had almost cutoff the tips of two of my fingers back in 79. They had a hell of a time with my fingerprints and finally were satisfied with the other 8. lol
