If you're running Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 this will come in VERY handy.
You can disable quite a bit that Microsoft says you can't disable including Cortana and telemetry not to mention all sorts of other settings and nifty tools.
Granted with every major Microsoft update it may undo the disabling, just go back in and disable it again.

Rats...I had hopes.
I followed the steps to shut off the memory hog Cortana....rebooted...nope....there she is running and consuming memory like nothing happened.

It worked om my Dell laptop. Cortana still shows in Task Manager but usage is zero.

Hmm....on 2nd reboot, she is not even in the list.
