Well, funny thing about that. The jury only recommended 2 1/2 years. The judge imposed 10 only because he realized how bad it looked.

No murder weapon.
A hard to prove timeline.
The cop who found the "bloody gloves" lied about using racial slurs and bragged on tape about how he beat confessions out of black suspects.
The gloves didn't fit.
The Medical Examiner claimed he handled all evidence personally, only to be shown video of his assistants collecting it. ("How about THAT, Mr. Fung?")

Don't blame black people for the LAPD's and DA office's incompetence.

If every black suspect had a dream team, the jails would be empty

Fetuses aren't babies.

Babies are babies for up to a year or so after birth. At birth, a male baby is a boy and he will be a boy for the next eighteen years or so as he continues to grow and develop. When he reaches thirteen he will be a teenage boy. Point being, a fetus is just a stage in the development of a baby. It doesn't mean it's not a baby.

A lot has been said about Austin escalating the situation and for sure, for his part, he did. But if Austin had the responsibility not to escalate, so did Karmelo.

Karmelo told officers after the fact that he told Austin not to put his hands on him but that's not quite true. He didn't tell Austin not to put his hands on him, he dared Austin to put his hands on him. That was Karmelo's initial contribution to the escalation.

Austin further escalated when he pushed Karmelo. Then, Karmelo not only escalates it further from there, he escalates it to the worst possible outcome. Over being asked to leave the tent and a push.

Well, the Metcalf bullies were under the tent, so they obviously thought it was a big enough deal to push the other kid out of "Their" tent.

No one was pushed out of the tent.

It was the team's tent and it serves as their locker room for these kinds of event. Athletes and students from other schools are not allowed to be there and Karmelo probably knew this, being a student athlete himself. This is why, not just Austin and Hunter, but all the other students (including black students) and even an adult coach that were there were all telling Karmelo to leave.

While I'm never unhappy to see a bully get it, this was a bit much.

Maybe if their dad taught his boys to not start fights, Austin would still be alive today.

And if Karmelo's dad taught his son not to kill people over a petty assault, Austin would still be alive today and Karmelo wouldn't be in prison.

But a guy who says shit like "Watermelon Felon" is going to raise what he got

And a guy who stabs and kills someone over a push is going to get what he gets.

It's ironic that the only thing that got Karmelo to leave the tent was for him to kill somebody.
