As time goes by our "leaders" appear to be proud of the fact they cannot cooperate to function as a government should to the point you think you are baby sitting 8 year olds. This is a huge crisis that no one wants to put an end to. So, my question is do you think our government will ever go back to at least being civil with one another? Personally, I believe in term limits throwing them out of office at age 50 and however it can be done they have got to work together. Even the media can be found at fault here as we now have left wing media and right wing media. The next step will be brawls in Congress like we see in South American countries. This is a disgrace.

Why would anybody ever want to cooperate with Liberals and screw things up more than they already are?

That would be a dumb thing to do.

The smart thing to do is work hard to stop liberal policies not compromise with the bastards.

Funny how the uber-partisans see a widening gap.
Hell, I can barely tell the difference between the two parties anymore

I don't think there is much difference between the Democrat Party and the Republican Party because they both are progressive and support big government.

I do, however, see a tremendous difference between real Conservatives and Liberals.

The problem we have is that too many Conservatives that think that the Republican Party is conservative when it is not, so they waste their vote.

The Democrat Party promises bad (Left) government and delivers bad government.

The Republican Party promises good (Right) government but delivers bad government.

Well, it seems from the responses here the problem lies not only in our crony lizards, I mean leaders but the people have jumped on board this train to nowhere. Dissention is a must for democracies but as the supposed world leader in freedom we more resemble the inhabitants of a zoo than the hall of democracy. Just reading the rhetoric here sounds like a rally for a riot.

I think our country is beyond the point of being able to be fixed at the ballot box. This out of control big government has become the teat for millions of greedy Americans to suck on and they don't want to give it up.

We will never return to fiscal responsibility and adhering to the Constitution. That shipped has sailed. We will never be able to pay back this enormous debt and do what is right for the country instead of pandering to the greedy special interest groups that control the political parties like the unions and welfare queens.

We are pretty much screwed and we are going to continue to lose our wealth and the American Dream. We have seen that during the Obama administration with a decrease in family income and real no BS unemployment at around 10%.

Electing Republicans over Democrats will make things a tiny bit better because they understand how to stimulate capitalism but not enough to reverse the damage already done or is in the pipeline. They sure will not put an end to the growth of government or the welfare state.

We really only have two choices:

1. Continue to evolve into a soulless socialistic European style craphole with mounting debt, high unemployment and dismal annual economic growth, or

2. Start over again.

The only problem about number 2 is that starting over again is only a temporary fix because good government always evolves into bad government due to human greed and lust for power.

There used to be rules by which political disagreements were resolved. The Democrats have broken most of those rules (e.g., separation of powers, confidentiality of FBI files, filibuster, passing a budget, allowing votes on bills, etc.) No wonder Republicans don't want to cooperate with them.

Said the con who supported the destruction of our economy in 2008.

We're always better under Democrat rule. Republicans tend to be more corrupt. Grant, Harding, Nixon, Reagan, who was the worst. The big depressions and stock market crashes always seem to be under republicans in the white house. With a country with about 350 million people and a good number of Corporations headed psychopaths like the koch bros., we better hope for more, not less, government control.

A for sarcasm, F for analysis. Which were you intending?

The answer to your question is easily answered. Democrats are the party of government. They believe that they can make the country better by regulating every aspect of our lives even if that means twisting the Bill of Rights to suit their purposes. Witness the latest effort of the FCC to adopt rules that govern the Internet. The Internet has from the beginning been a bastion of free speech. How long do you think it will take for the Party of Government to start forcing "political correctness" on sites such as this down our throats?

Most Republicans, not all, believe the Constitution says what it means and means what it says. The Bill of Rights was adopted for the sole purpose of protecting Americans from government. Why the left considers this to be "extremism" is beyond me. It all boils down to whether people want to live free as the Founders intended, or just be wards of the State and let others who are not really smarter than they, but pretend to be, take care of them at the expense of others.

As you might be able to see there is no middle ground in this scenario. How do you for the sake of just getting something done compromise your freedom? That is why so-called "moderates" are disappearing from the scene because they are willing to negotiate away individual liberty for the sake of being able to say to their voters "look at what I helped get passed", and then try to convince them that what was done is for their benefit, when it was in reality done for their own political gain.

The left has gone too far down the road to reverse their philosophy of government now. To do that would put them in the political wilderness for a long time. The only choice they have is to continue down the road they are on and hope the people of this country do not wake up to what they are doing before it is too late!

Reminds me of the Republican who said that 'compromise means doing it our way'.

Republicans have said they would not work toward a better, stronger America. They have planted their feet and refused to do their jobs, to work to improve the lot of the middle class.

Until that Do Nothing attitude ends, I don't see any way for true dialog and compromise to happen.

Very true.

It never ceases to amaze me that some vote against their own best interests and the best interests of their family and country.

Although I often refer to their "willful ignorance", they have access to other than the proven lies of Fox, Limbaugh, Brietbart, etc. I can only conclude that its a conscious choice to ignore the facts.

I believe if we actually are fortunate enough to elect true leaders rather than mere politicians we might sway the Congress to work together after these difficult years. We need changes in the procedures of Congress where the Representatives and Senators find it mandatory to be present for all debates. The president and the members of congress have to listen to the people. And citizens should make their thoughts known to their representatives so that their opinions are making a difference in their votes instead of politics as usual.

Oh, you know that the Left is as guilty as the right. Just look at Reid. We need new Leaders that are True Leaders not politicians.

Gerrymandering and big money make it impossible to ever again have a truly clean election that is decided by the voters.
