why you should garden

I would love to have a clean acre of land with a house. But I've been stuck in apartments all my adult life and never been able to afford the luxury of having my own place.

I'd love to have flowers, a small bee hive, a few chickens, rabbits, cats, and turkeys.

I'd love to grow squash, melons, asparagus, pumpkins, pears, and peaches.

I'd also be extremely happy with my own pumpkin farm.
That size garden is a helluva lot of work. Be careful what you wish for.

I used to help my Uncles work their farms. I know full well what it takes.
To me, thats fun. Especially riding the tractor!!!!

Gets expensive though, if you have to buy too much equipment. I dont want anything THAT big. Just enough for me.

Trump wouldn't care. But the greedy, bloodthirsty, money grubbing Dems and Libs would be screaming bloody ******* murder if they aren't getting thier cut.
That would double or triple the cost of food, and place health at risk. The reason we have regulations in the first place is because of the irresponsible way people do things.

so I can sell fresh milk and meat there??
Nope, but you can sell all the fruits and vegetables you want.
You can buy uninspected meat and eggs directly from a farmer. Raw milk as well.

If that animal is processed in a local slaughterhouse the plant is inspected by the state, but animals sold privately aren't. I worked in such a plant so I know how it works.

If that animal is processed in a local slaughterhouse the premises are under the inspection of the state, but the individual animals aren't.
obviously youre ignorant on the matter,,

you need their permission to sell anything at farmers markets,,
at least any of the ones I have been to,,

and as your link says its not without its limitations
They vary by state. How would fruits and vegetable even be 'inspected' at a farmers' market. Inspected for what?

I never said "inspect"

so you admit what you said is not correct,,

next time think before you talk,,

"That’s the answer to urban food deserts."

Food deserts are a political construct.

15th post
That speaks to retail food safety which is necessary. The OP is just about gardening.
the comment you responded to was about government permission and then you changed it to inspection,,

as I said,, next time think before you talk,,

youre dismissed,,
Revisit my last post. There is no permission without inspection. Inspection leads to permission.

Joel Salatin's premise is flawed and dangerous. He wants us to reverse a hundred years of progress in food safety.
