/---- Agreed 100%. I have friends who are screenwriters and have been roadblocked at every turn trying to send Hollywood new ideas for movies. Remakes are the safe bet because there is a built in audience. Look at how many "classic" blockbusters were almost rejected at the last minute like Jaws and Star Wars. But the first Star Trek movie was given a green light because of the success of the TV show - which almost never happened as well. Same thing with Mission Impossible. That's Hollywood for ya.
 
some things should be left un-remade though...and sho nuff and bruce leeroy are two cultural icons that should be left alone
 
I've seen rumors of this, but nothing concrete. It's been talked about for years. I don't see anything current about The Last Dragon being remade.
