It's very simple--if you start feeding the squirrels in your back yard--you will notice they come back again & again for more food. In fact they actually stop foraging for themselves.

And the squirrels already took over. Ed explained it very well. If I could suggest to people how to stop these monopolies. I would tell them take every dime out of these companies that are sucking the country dry. Break each and everyone one of those bastards and let them actually pay themselves with their own money. Empty the banks, 401k's and those trust funds that these people are using to turn everyone into their own personal little slaves. They have built a false dependency on the markets to perpetuate their capitalist agenda. The average person only plays the part of feeding their greed. These people's pennies when multiplied by the amount of all the people is big money. Don't shit yourself. You want to get rich? Haven't you heard the story about borrow a dollar from everyone you meet? Do the math. There are one hundred pennies in every dollar. With that information you should be able to figure it out. These guys drive the markets. They don't just play a game of chance.

It took both parties to create the unequal socialist government we currently have in place. I can personally say there were no Democrats standing in the balance to help create a level playing field back when a young single mother was doing her best to support her children on her own without government employee interference and without being harassed on a daily basis by certain government employees. The Republicans in the last twenty years have become more and more corrupt and the Democrats have also become more and more corrupt. I fault both parties. When you see a program come along that is purported to assist the poor or disadvantage, you can bet your ass someone is in the thick of it determining how to get more than their fair share and then some.

As far as your question about "your excuse" goes. I already made mine, it was outright stolen. That is it. No excuse to it. None. Flat out illegal actions and fraud are rewarded in this society at this point. I've seen it first hand. I opt out. I will not be a party to it. That is my "excuse" bubba. I don't partner with crooks. I just sit here and every once in awhile make a comment to dinks who think they have all the answers for everyone. My truly caring and thinking that I could do anything at all to remedy the situation went out the window with court assisted fraud.

Republicans have not kept a level playing field open for people are given a honest choice. They knuckled under and gave it away to the banksters. Even worse though are the Democrats they sold out to the banksters and became a party for the gangsters.

I have doubts that the people will ever truly be fully represented again so they can have that true liberty and true free will choice. The people who would and have stood for liberty have been beaten into submission or given up and that goes on every day in this society. Strip the ability of those who would fight for integrity and you have exactly what it is today. Thugs in charge who really don't give a hoot about the poor, the middle class or the upper middle class. State unions, labor unions, bought and paid for politicians, attorneys and corporate rulers will be all that is left in this country in the years to come. It is there now, has been for years. Also, even if the poor dont pay income tax they likely pay sales tax, gas tax, etc. So they should still have a right to vote and have a say in government even under your delusional "fairness." But keeping people poor, which has been the effect of gov't policies for the last 40 years, is a whole lot more cruel than anything proposed here. Not only does it damage people economically, it damages their very humanity, teaching them they are totally dependent on the gov't for their needs.
Look at NOLA and the people there. They were completely powerless over their own destinies. Is there anything more pitiful than that? Would not continuing that system be the most cruel thing you could imagine?
