I can't imagine that the final verdict from SCOTUS will be that the President does not have authority to fire a public employee for cause or if that employee is not necessary. If any person working in the federal government in the executive branch is immune from firing, that person becomes an automatic dictator and that pretty well negates the purpose of the Constitution.
