The Left, and particularly the more hardcore Regressive Left, thought the battle was over. They looked at Obama's wins, they looked at demography, and they figured the game was won and it would be fairly smooth sailing from here on out. America's fundamental change was happening, and it would start paying for its sins. It was payback time.

What they didn't see was how many people were still repulsed by the Left's core tactics, PC & Identity Politics. I was mocked here when I warned of a huge pushback against it, and holy shit, go figure, I was right. The loss completely shocked them and fucked them up. This is the closest thing you'll see to political PTSD.

Now, they believe - and frankly, I suspect they're right - that Trump's win was far closer to a last gasp than a big change. That's why you don't see them trying to heal anything, trying to actually fix anything. The plan is still to shove PC and Identity Politics - with the help of changing demographics - right down your throat. This was just a momentary pause in their momentum.
