Why is trump meeting Putin in Alaska to discuss "swapping territories"?

Just say it, you are completely comfortable with continuing what you have been doing for four years and hundreds of thousands of more dying. That's the choice you are recommending.
Is surrendering everything to Putin your choice?

Tell the kid getting bullied to surrender his lunch money to keep the peace

LOL like Obama did with Crimea? Stop pretending you give the least of a **** about the people of Ukraine,.

Obama had no option in Crimea other than sending in US troops.
Ukraine can defend themselves today if Trump continued support

I never contended otherwise. Pay attention, dullards.
Trump has the ability to mediate, and then bring his results from the meeting to be looked at and reviewed by all parties involved. He has no ability to demand that anyone accept the terms or conditions talked about in the meeting.

Trump is there to try and persuade Putin into accepting some sort of concession or agreement that could end the killing, but he is also there to listen as well. This is far greater an act in regards to the non-negotiating EU and other's who are undoubtedly scared chitless of Putin, and therefore look to the US to fix the damned thing.

Diplomacy and international deals require an initial meeting of leaders/representatives, generally speaking. These jackasses on the left just can’t seem to get over their TDS long enough to realize it’s all part of the process.

Uninformed sources told me that Trump will offer Putin San Francisco and Los Angeles in exchange for Putin agreeing to keep all the presently occupied Ukrainian territory, plus Odessa. And Russians get to vote in the next Ukrainian Presidential election
That’s worth it

The process is to bring everyone to the table and negotiate

Trump is excluding Europe because he doesn’t want to share a peace prize

I mean it's good that Trump is trying to end the war, but what would be even better is for him to tell NATO to take a hike.
NATO was formed as an alliance against Russian aggression, otherwise if the case ever arrived. So the very fact that Russia has become aggressive in a region for whatever reason, has re-awakened the idea of a created NATO and it's purpose concerning Russia.

Problem however is what we know - NATO is not allowed to be a global law enforcement over area's of the globe that aren't member's in the alliance, so it's charter doesn't include the protections of nation's that aren't members of the alliance.

Ukraine for some reason has sought protection from the NATO allied nation's in a hot war against Russia in which allegedly Russia started with the movement of troops and equipment across the border of Ukraine in a so called "special operation". Does Russia or did Russia have a right to do such a thing ? Hell we really don't know considering the overall political environment that shapes and shifts like a snakes skin color in the fall leaves.

We're discussing Crimea, Obama allowed the surrender 10,000 square miles of Ukraine to Putin. What are you confused about??
Given we were still in Afghanistan, Obama was not willing to deploy troops to Crimea
Ukraine was incapable at that time of defending itself

The problem was that the Crimeans were more than willing to be part of Russia. We would have had to fight the Russian army as well as the locals.

You have to understand that Russia still considers it has a sphere of influence, and the Ukraine is squarely part of it.

USSR had a sphere of influence
Russia does not
