There could be many reasons why he has remained silent. I don't blame him. It's not wise to speculate, too many lives could be at risk.Biden has just escalated the war against Russia by approving long range use. As this could lead to a escalation and drag the US into a war with Russia, why is Trump - the anti war President - not making a public statement condemning Biden's move and making it clear he will reverse this and other decisions and stop support for Ukraine?
It's not like Trump let someone else own the narrative, yet right here, that's what he's doing. allowing Biden to won the narrative...the question is why? what signals does that send to Europe, Ukraine and Russia? to me it sends one signal - he's not actually concerned abut US war with Russia and has nothing to say about Biden's decision yesterday.
Putin clearly will have to decide "do I want to accept the offramp in a reasonable manner or do I want to be greedy and have the worlds ire and effort to turn against me in an even sharper manner after more than two years of war"?
Trump won, he has a guy who has openly spoke of peace. Putin would be unwise to take kindness for weakness, especially as many in Europe are just hoping Trump decides to back Ukraine to the hilt and drags the rest of Europe with him.
You can be the smartest man in the world, the most cunning and ruthless negotiator, even a former spy, but you can't control everything. Those critical forces and details you cannot control may lead to your downfall if you underestimate how important they are.
