Why I carry a handgun.......

This is a nice list of the reasons that we, as Americans can, and should, carry guns for self defense........there is a longer list at the link....

I CARRY A HANDGUN BECAUSE:

*Evil exists and may confront anyone at any time and any place.

*Evil exists to destroy all that is kind, good and loving.

*God exists and expects me to protect myself, those I love and those unable to protect themselves.

*Self-defense is a God-given, natural, unalienable right.

*The lives of the innocent—friend or stranger—are worth far more to me and to a just society than the lives of vicious criminals and terrorists.

*By carrying a handgun, I honor the foresight and wisdom of the Founders in writing the Second Amendment, which acknowledges, but does not create, the right to keep and bear arms.

*The Constitution does not bestow liberty; it restrains government from infringing on our liberties. Arms have always been necessary to remind government of that.

*Democrats and other deluded, malicious people are as desperate to disarm the law-abiding as they are to coddle violent criminals, domestic and foreign.

*Never in human history has a government disarmed a people for good reasons.

*Never in human history has a government disarmed a people to ensure greater individual liberty and public safety.

*Any government that would disarm a people cannot be trusted.

*A handgun is the most usual, convenient and effective means of self-defense.

*Going armed reinforces and upholds the Social Contract.

*A government that labels half of the nation “white supremacists,” “insurrectionists,” “domestic terrorists,” “racists” and sends federal law enforcement to spy on and harass parents objecting to the sexual and political indoctrination of their children makes plain the wisdom of the Founders in writing the First and Second amendments.

there is an old saying, easier to carry a gun around than a cop

Why not unless you just enjoy the idea of shooting somebody that might otherwise retreat?

Thank you.

I have always fully supported the 2nd Amendment and oppose further so called "Gun Safety Laws" that are intended to disarm those who chose to defend themselves or other innocent individuals from our violent criminal element.

Because I am well over 70 years old and have worked and lived in some pretty rough neighborhoods, I have had to deploy a firearm at least 3 times against criminals whose intentions did not include making me any healthier, wealthier or happier.

As a combat Veteran who has spent plenty of time in numerous 3rd World hell holes and in 2 wars, I am fully aware of what modern ordinance can do to human bone and tissue.

Finally, because I value my right to carry a firearm, I feel a special obligation to other gun owners and society in general to handle my firearms effectively and responsibly.

I fully believe that just because I may have the right to take another life under certain very strict circumstances, I also have the equally strong obligation to not to take that same life unless no other options are possible.

Yes, we have the right to defend ourselves and others, but with that strictly defined right comes the equally strong obligation to hold your fire.

Just because you may sometimes have the right to take another life doesn't mean you always should.
The nightmares you'll have from taking another life far outweigh the value of your Big Screen T.V. therefore, knowing when not to shoot is as important as knowing how to shoot.

Thanks,

They're a lot less safe once you bring a gun into them.

That's a lie.

I'm in what you would call "the 'hood" every day, and I never shlep.

That's because your betters have told you that you are not permitted to defend yourself.

And isn’t that the wet dream of every gun nut? To be able to shoot a human and get away with it?

You're projecting.

Yup.

I'm prepared. That's why I don't need to be armed to go to the grocery store.

You are scared.

You're projecting.

I don't make to carry firearms but I do have a nice collection of knives.
I have a killing machine ready to strike

Nah, they are just sissies. Afraid of a little old pistol.
Yep, afraid until that little thing saves their life. Then it becomes your best buddy.

The leftists though, they need to disarm us so they can inflict their great society on everyone who isn't a simpleton.
Well, disarming the populace, that is usually the first thing they want to do in every socialist government.
And isn't that the real sign of fear?

I carry a handgun because a police officer is too heavy to fit on my belt.

I do carry a smaller gun these days than I do a quarter century ago, but my mentality on when I would use it has also changed significantly.
Cops these days only want to protect trouble-makers from us.
