Why I carry a handgun.......

You're definitely not playing stupid.

Everyone except you understands. Ask someone smarter if you still do not.
You are either:
A) Too chickenshit to come right out and say what you mean
or
B) Just trolling

Which is it?

Being armed means nothing if you can't use it properly and safely.
True. That's why I practice, a lot! However, there are plenty of examples of people with no training whatsoever being able to successfully defend themselves from predators of the two legged variety.

For home defense, or taking down banks?
I have my Mavberg ( Maverick 88 Riot 12 with Mossberg vintage Wood Furniture & Front end with Police sights and heat shield ) and Full size Glock frame HG with a blinder light and 17 round mag next to the bed ) If it was a stack of home invaders I would grab my Chinese Type 56 “ Spiker “ AK .

Every once in awhile you get lucky.
My experience is unless you go around with your hand on that thing a predator has a distinct advantage.
Being able to spot a threat is sometimes difficult but pretty much the only reason the untrained turned the tables on criminals.

Isn't that expensive?
Depends how you do it.

I guess making ammo more expensive is cutting down on our ability to obtain tight groups.

Range firing is only one aspect of weapons familiarization.

Dry-firing is pretty much essential with pistols.

I wouldn't suggest it for belt-fed full-auto....for obvious reasons.

Got any pictures?
I want to see this.

Union Kiss ass Big Blue City Liberal Cops perhaps , But ICE / BP / DHS and Sheriffs … are gettin it done
The whole police force hasn't gone nuts.

It's just where the police force went woke that we seem to have all of these "incidents" that nobody on the left seems to be able to understand.

OK, I will take pity on the stupid and spoon-feed it to you: because you live in Massachusetts, your betters do not permit you to be armed for your own protection. (If you are, it requires jumping through a bunch of hoops and paying a bunch of money.) You are also not permitted to protect yourself at work, assuming you aren't lying about your job.

Situational awareness is always the most important factor in staying healthy. Whether it's driving down the highway keeping your attention to what's happening both in front, and behind you, or walking down the street.

I take my daughter with me to the seedier sides of Reno, now that she's home for a few weeks, and we walk around and I teach her what to look for, and how to avoid it.

We also work on her learning to trust her inner voice. In a couple of weeks she is going to be taking a racing school again to further improve her driving.

I could obtain a firearm in MA if I were so inclined. Stop talking out your ass. And who are these "betters" you keep alluding to? Are you being stupid on purpose?

It's quite difficult, unless you're a criminal.

You should try so you can report on your experience.

...
It's not that difficult, as long as you don't have a criminal record. It requires too much time and expense, but it is not accurate to say that it's not possible. So, Jackassaxle saying "can't" is untrue. My oldest son is working on getting his driver's license right now. That takes a lot of time and expense too. Anything the government regulates is gonna take time and expense, unfortunately.
