Why I carry a handgun.......

I don't carry one in public because I don't carry a purse and my pockets are just big enough for me to carry my wallet, phone, keys and maybe a couple other critical items. Certainly no room for even a small handgun.

But we have one at home that is cleaned and loaded though pretty much nobody would ever look where we keep it.

Why?

Because if somebody is breaking into our home and we have no way of knowing his intentions, I don't want to have to dial 911, give instructions, and then wait for the police to get here in order to defend myself.

Common sense laws should allow ANY citizen the right to shoot somebody breaking into his/her home if that person does not cease and desist after a warning is issued.

Perhaps you should study up on statistics of how much crime/shootings/murders are committed by members of the NRA, collectors, dealers, other 'gun nuts.' I suspect of course that you won't and wouldn't admit it if you did.

But it could do wonders for your education.

Nope. My state is armed to the teeth, so people are polite, for the most part. Gangbangers in las vegas are a problem though.

Nope. Because we are prepared. Just like I have car insurance. Not because I am afraid to drive, but because there are idiots, like you, on the road.

You really shouldn't go outside at all - ever. Board up the windows, mine the yard, charge up the electric fence at the curb, and hide under the bed all day, every day.

Do yo have car and homeowners insurance? Neither of them are normally needed, but wise people pay for them. A weapon is the same thing; it’s insurance for when things go terribly wrong. It’s the same logic I used when I sailed. My life jackets had safety tethers, dye markers, whistles, laser pointers to get people’s attention, flashlights and in the last couple of years a compact, waterproof VHF radio when they got reasonably inexpensive. Between the Mae West and all the gear each person carried about six hundred dollars worth of safety equipment. Never needed a single bit of it, but lacking any item could have been fatal in an emergency. Money well spent.

No normal person wants to injure another person. You would have to be Tackleberry from Police Academy to want that. But it isn’t bad to recognize that there are dangerous, evil people out there who will harm or kill you.
