Several reasons. One is better strategy. Also American technology beats Russian tech. Another is intel. They are probably being given intel from American spy satellites. This video explains some of it.

This is the list mobilized troops are given to purchase for themselves. This would be thousands of dollars if it's decent kit- a PE ballistic helmet is a couple grand on it's own.

Russian loan sharks are targeting conscripts with "military loans" at up to 1%/day interest.

Two more giant pluses for the Ukrainians are the fact that Putin is an idiot and Zelensky has proved himself a remarkably capable leaded.

Scott Ritter has claimed the conflict changed fundamentally over the summer. Prior to that time Russia was fighting an Ukrainian force backed by NATO; since then, Russia's contesting a NATO army manned by very highly motivated, well-trained Ukrainians.

Russia is going to lose. It is a fundamentally flawed, deeply corrupt state.

Scott Ritter: Why Russia Will Still Win, Despite Ukraine's Gains - scheerpost.com

"The successful Ukrainian counteroffensive needs to be put into a proper perspective.

"The casualties Ukraine suffered, and is still suffering, to achieve this victory are unsustainable.

"Ukraine has exhausted its strategic reserves, and they will have to be reconstituted if Ukraine were to have any aspirations of continuing an advance along these lines.

"This will take months.

"Russia, meanwhile, has lost nothing more than some indefensible space.

"Russian casualties were minimal, and equipment losses readily replaced.

"Russia has actually strengthened its military posture by creating strong defensive lines in the north capable of withstanding any Ukrainian attack, while increasing combat power available to complete the task of liberating the remainder of the Donetsk People’s Republic under Ukrainian control.

"Russia has far more strategic depth than Ukraine.

"Russia is beginning to strike critical infrastructure targets, such as power stations, that will not only cripple the Ukrainian economy, but also their ability to move large amounts of troops rapidly via train."

in Muscovy It goes like this... MOD order 1,5 mil uniforms. But minister pocket the money for 1mil and only order 0.5 mil. Than manufacturer do 50k uniforms and bribe warehouse to sign he delivered 0.5mil. Than staff in warehouse sell 50k uniforms to farmers and hunters....
Moscow horde´s war record :- 1856 defeated by Britain and France 1905 defeated by Japan 1917 defeated by Germany 1920 defeated by Poland, Finland, Estonia and all Baltic states 1939 defeated by Finland 1969 defeated by China 1989 defeated by Afghanistan 1989 defeated in the Cold War. 1996 defeated by Chechnya 2022 defeated by Ukraine WW2 won USA/Britain , meanwhile Stalin's officers were shot or sent to the Gulags. Because they finally fugure out that "take the safety off" had nothing to do with the condom.
A Uke is just a Polock that couldn't find it's way home after the war

They also have intense patriotism and anti-Russian hatred on their side.

Because Russia is conducting a special military operation instead of waging total war.

If Stalin were alive Ukraine wouldn't last a week and Kiev would be a pile of rubble... even with the present state of the russian army.

And thank God Russia is not waging total war and Stalin remains dead (and not only for the sake of the ukrainian people).

The military encirclement of Russia is a serious geopolitical threat that demanded a military response from Russia since 30 years of diplomatic efforts, begging the West to stop came to nothing but there isn't absolutely anything in this threat that justifies waging total war against any country in Eastern Europe (at least not now) let alone the use of nukes (tactical or otherwise).

Even the sad (but limited) spectacle that we see in Ukraine makes me shake my head in disbelief at the depths of human stupidity, because it was totally unnecessary and perfectly avoidable, after all Russia was not giving shelter to Osama bin Laden or posing any other kind of threat to justify the West's aggressive stance towards her since 1992.

If anything the country ended the Cold War without bloodshed and was minding her own business.

Stalin failed to totally defeat Finland but then he did serious damage to his own army. His purges had decimated the officer corps. Russia is losing many officers in this war partly because of long range rocket systems that have done damage in the Russian rear

Were Russia fighting a total war there wouldn't be a single human settlement in Ukraine to receive western weaponry.

It would be a complete wasteland from the polish border to the russian controlled areas.
