The left, despite their inane propaganda, oftentimes have good intentions. I doubt the majority of leftists truly want to destroy to America.
However, the end result of their actions is just that, the destruction of America and all of it's values.
For their misplaced love for government intervention in the economy ultimately hurts everyone more than it helps it, as can be seen with the failed presidency of F.D.R. Government intervention makes people slaves to the state.
Their crippling regulation ultimately leads to less economic freedom, and makes everyone poorer. It also DESTROYS the concept of freedom, and I personally believe there should be regulation in order to preserve our GOD-given rights.
These are very old talking points, and you haven't really added anything interesting. But yes, many policies initiated by the Left have created consequences not intended by their originators. I'd be careful claiming that this is only a problem on the Left. Anyhoo....
I had to take a college course where we read Keynes' "The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money" and Friedman's "Capitalism and Freedom" (one of the best criticisms of Left economic policies ever written). For our final paper we had to demonstrate that we understood the theories of both thinkers. This involved more than just regurgitating them in Cliff Note fashion, rather, we had to demonstrate an understanding of the most
and least defensible ideas of each thinker. Whether we ultimately became fans of Neoclassical Economics or Keynesians was far less important than learning what each thinker meant.
Here's what scares me. Most of the websites in your signature are deeply political - they're the kind of websites that don't teach the conceptual difference between Keynes (who believed in markets and private property) and Marx (who didn't). They tell one side of the story, and they tend to deal in talking points rather than theoretical argument. CATO is the most academic and rigorous of the websites you feature. CATO has produced brilliant critiques of Bush's Middle East Policy and the Patriot Act. It also showed how Reagan's slice of the Cold War grew the power and budget of government more than LBJ's War on Poverty. It doesn't merely show the unintended consequences produced by Liberals but also conservatives. You should delve deeper into it.
Here is my point. I have a tattered copy of "Capitalism and Freedom" in my bookshelf. I also have a dog eared copies of Allan Bloom's "The Closing of the American Mind", Edmund Burke's "Reflections on the Revolution in France", and Hayek's "The Road to Serfdom". These are foundational texts for the current Republican Party. They do not suit my political taste, but I find them brilliant. If you're going to recommend information sources on the Right, why not aim higher than propaganda? There is so much good stuff on the Right - why would you recommend garbage websites that cater to low-information voters?
It's sad that you're understanding of Keynes and Marx comes from places like FOX News. You should read the actual texts and form your own opinions. Rather than puking talking points all over this forum, you should realize that
some of us brain dead liberals actually think the deregulation of transportation in the 70s was a good thing. And we also think that in a great number of instances markets do a far better job allocating resources and calibrating incentives. On the other hand some of us think that Carter's antitrust suit against AT&T, a move that ultimately facilitated competition and the creation of new technologies + cheaper long distance. And there are those of us who think that GlassStegall was a very effective regulation, but that most attempts at Price Controls have been failures. In other words, this stuff is a lot more complicated than you make it sound, and not all liberals agree on these things. Your news sources have left you long on anger and short on facts. You can do better.
