Why doesn't trump say anything about the Russian election being a sham? Or his ally Putin having Navalny and other opposition leaders killed or poisoned? Or mention the war crimes committed in Ukraine by Russia?

Not quite although the US Civil War has been over for quite awhile now.

The difference is, Ukraine used to be part of Russia and there are a lot of Ukranians that still consider themselves Russian. I know a whole bunch of them. To them, like the people of Crimea, Ukraine took their religion and their language and persecuted them for both. The Donbas region is filled with nominal "Ukranians" who consider the EU supporting Ukranians nothing but Nazis who want to oppress them in the name of EU inclusion.

That's why this doesn't have easy answers. If Ukraine gets an agreement that Russia withdraws from Donbas, Ukraine will be dealing with a region that hates them and Russian agitation will make it worse. It will end up Eastern Europe's Gaza.
