Recall that God himself placed a curse on animals at creation. Killing and eating animals isn't "evil", sorry. However, it could be done more humanely, but that's out of my hands.
Oh, and Jesus' sandals were likely made of leather. And he likely ate lamb every Passover.
My wife was an animal lover, hated that I hunted, but made the best fried chicken.
I think this argument between you, Buttercup, and me is more a battle of the sexes than about eating meat.
Eating meat is not high on the list of things to repent of.
That 4H program has been around for decades involving millions of kids and millions of animals. If trauma over the fate of those animals was a serious problem that program would have ended long ago.
Of course they love and bond with their animals. But they are also well aware of their purpose. That they are saddened is natural and good. It shows that they are tender hearted. However, they recover and many go on to raise other animals.
