He's ready to jump off the sinking ship.
I've seen a couple of interviews with him lately.
He still votes with the Democrats about 93% of the time.
But on many of the big issues, he does not.
That's because he's a rational human being. Stroke or not (he still uses a tablet positioned in front of him so he can make sure he understands what's being said to him), he is someone who has respect for people with whom he disagrees, unlike about 90% of Democrats today, who would rather light the other party on fire.
He claims he has no plans of switching to the GOP.
Trump has offered to endorse and back him if he does switch.
I have mixed emotions.
He's impressed me greatly, particularly recovering from a devastating stroke where his heart actually stopped as well. He understand that he's a total pariah within his party and laughs about it but still maintains that he's a Democrat.
I don't get the impression he's one of those who's crazy about maintaining power. He might be one and done or he might switch parties.
But he will NOT be the Democrat nominee in 4 years. They will primary him and do everything to remove him. They hate him. He's not in lockstep with them. And that's simply not allowed anymore.
