Obviously some here think PBS and NPR are 'non-profits'. That's false; the producers and their companies make all kinds of money off of those shows and air time. Bill Moyers got filthy rich, made hundreds of millions of dollars off of PBS, and so do others. They don't need Federal subsidies or tax exempt status; the Democratic Party can pay for its own election propaganda outlets out of its own budgets.

Okay, but other people do have an issue, obviously, so it should be stopped, especially if they are going to lean heavily to one side or another on political/social issues. There is absolutely no reason to prop them up with federal funds. That is not the job of the federal government.

when cable first came out there was some good stuff. I have never had it here but when I went to visit my Mom, I would watch Animal Planet. It had vet shows, and various humane society shows, zoo vet, etc...good stuff. Now it is all snakes and shark shit.

I used to watch the History Channel. Used to call it the Hitler Channel. Lot of WWII stuff, biographies, historical documentaries

The only drawback is that parking sucks big-time on major holidays, but the Christmas and Easter services there are phenomenal.

The Cathedral has been in service to the nation since it was built. It has hosted the funerals of Eisenhower, Reagan, Ford, Bush, as well as Mathew Shepard and others.

We already have the Voice of America, and Radio Free Europe, I think this is sort of redundant needless to say.

IMHO, the broadcasting arm of the US government should definitely be revamped. Maybe America can instead hire folks to translate the Maha Rushdie's words into German, French, Italian and Japanese, among other languages, and make the International Version of the EIB a tremendous hit?
