Why Do Trump Supporters Have Such A Hard Time Admitting He's A Convicted Felon?

What happened to a speedy trial and resolution? If the process is taking years, I suspect it's the criminal's lawyers who are drawing it out.

FWIW, Trump will never see the inside of a prison unless he's visiting Eric or Junior...as if. LOL

OTOH, I expect, like my hero Ronald Reagan, Trump will fade into obscurity due to his mental deterioration. At the rate he's going, I expect that will be sooner rather than later. Once he leaves office for "health reasons", the next We, the People, would read about him is his obit a few years later.

Great question about a speedy trial. When a defendant isn’t in custody this is usually waived. It also applies to the trial not the appeal.

Thanks. Not a lawyer, just an observer. Usually, when such cases are drawn out, it's on the part of the defense, not the prosecution.

It's been years. What is its current status?

All I could find was this and it doesn't look promising:
It has not been years. At the end of this month, it will be two years.

He filed his notice of appeal on January 29, 2025.

In October 2025, his attorneys submitted a full appellate brief. https://static.politico.com/8b/9e/8...ople-of-the-state-of-appellant-s-brief-66.pdf

It’s completely unsurprising that the Appellate Division of the NY State Supreme Court (1st Department) has not yet rendered any decision.

Also, there is a motion pending in Federal court whereby the intervening SCOTUS decision on Presidential immunity is getting invoked to dismiss that case in its entirety.

Finally, for the sake of clarity, when I maintain that the verdict has to fall and the case must be dismissed on appeal, I am not talking about just the first round of the appellate process. I am not convinced that the First Department is able to avoid assessing just the law. I anticipate the prospect that their decision will be simply political.

However, their decision (if adverse to the President’s appellate contentions) can also get appealed. And if the NYS highest Court (the Court of Appeals) fails to correct the Appellate Division’s probable determination, then the case can and will likely be appealed directly to SCOTUS.

I like to believe that somewhere along that path, justice will prevail. It sure didn’t during that ridiculous trial.

His lawyers are dragging it out. It's already been kicked back once. How do you not know this?
Yeah, the case is being tossed out during the appellate process. You're changing your story here. You're struggling mightily, winger. Do better.

Nope. That’s a blatantly false (or completely ignorant) claim.

Nobody on Trump’s side is dragging it out.

How do YOU not know this, Infernal Fart?

A fascinating differentiation on the fact Trump was convicted 1 year, 11 months and two weeks ago.

Because just like the failed impeachment, there are multiple steps to finalization

You said “years.” That’s plural. It has not even yet been “years.

Just admit that you were wrong. It will make you seem less of a hack.

I apologize for claiming "years" by rounding up when it's actually been 1 year, 11 months and 17 days.

Thank you for the correction.

I don’t need any apology.

But this correction does expose you as not really knowing WTF you’re talking about.

Appeals drag out for a long time. The appellate court will probably hear the arguments in late 2026 or early 2027. They really aren’t in a hurry because neither side really gains anything on this one.

Disagreed. Trump gains his vindication if acquitted and the prosecution confirms their conviction if the appeal is rejected.

A guilty person drags it out and an innocent person seeks restoration of their reputation.

Well then, Trump has been the one appealing. It’s really not his fault that the appellate court is backed up, is it? Keep in mind, if Trump wins the appeal, the state’s attorney could go for a retrial and maybe get a different sentence.

Irony! Trump is responsible for cutting back funding in the Justice system. Is he really playing 5D chess with the Justice system or just a rich but guilty criminal with a large string of lawyers willing to do his bidding?

We are talking about the New York State appellate system, not the federal. Trump has nothing to do with the funding of their justice system.

"falsification"

Let's see here. Is it FALSE to say that payments made to your attorney to help execute valid legal agreements are legal expenses????? Wow! You've got some real whoppers and joker takes!

"to hide crimes committed by your attorney"

So his real motive was to hide and cover for Michael Cohen so that he could avoid getting arrested?

Derp!

You just whopped yourself out, guy!
Prosecutors from the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Attorney's office identified Trump as "Individual-1" in documents regarding hush-money payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal during the 2016 election. Cohen stated in court that he facilitated these payments at the direction of Individual-1 and for his benefit.

There seems to be a lot of self-denial about his convictions. Why can't his supporters admit the truth--that he was convicted on all 34 charges by a DC court.
Will this fact also follow the election result deniers path of massive resistance at first and now a comparatively few still hold out that Trump won the 2020 election?

The Federal Elections Comission and the Department if Justice dropped the investigation into Trump. There was no violation of election law on his behalf. It does not matter what anonymous reference some other case was making to individuals who weren't charged.
