How dare Obama seek to realocate our current distribution of wealth????
One way to see the distribution of wealth in the U.S. is to imagine a group of 100 people who have a $100 between them. Evenly distributed each would have one dollar of wealth. Alas, that is far from the actual distribution. According to the most recent study, Currents and Undercurrents, by the Survey of Consumer Finance (Federal Reserve, Department of Treasury, 2006) wealth is distributed accordingly:
50 individuals at the bottom have a nickel. ($0.05 times 50 = $2.50)
The next 40 each have $0.70 of wealth (40 times $0.70 - $28.00).
The next 9 each have $4.00 of wealth (nine times $4.00 = $36.00)
The last richest individual has $33.40 (one time $33.40).
So, if you do give everyone the 1$ they are "entitled" to, how long would it take for the smarter, harder working person to again end up with more while the not so ambitious does fuck all waiting for their handout?
Do you propose to re-distribute the wealth every few years?
Interesting point. What you are saying is that 90% of Americans are lazy fuckups waiting for a handout. Where do you fall on the scale?
Not at all, but a good chunk of the bottom group are. Having "more" doesn't mean having "all".
IMO the above example using 50 people(50%) having the bottom amount seems a little high. That would mean 50% of the population is in poverty, and I think that's a little unfair to say.
Point is that you can redistribute all you want, it will eventually shit back to where the smarter, more ambitious, will have the bigger share of the $100.
