Why do Republicans lie about open borders??

Just finish the wall, bring back Trump's policies and STFU.
We're tired of your shit, and it's only 50 days.

Wall is not needed...

What is needed is better trade practices that will build the economies of Mexico and Central America that will cause their populations to stay there and not come here while getting China, Russia and Iran out of the politics and cartels in those countries!

That would do a lot more than the wall!

For the last half century America's border patrols have done a reasonably good job in apprehending and processing illegals trying to enter America. Some have a legitimate claim to citizenship and eventually become US citizens through judicial means , while many others are turned away. Democratic and Republican administrations have made only minor changes over the years (unless of course you count Trump's policy of separating small children from their parents) Almost no one in America wants open borders. Yet Republicans perpetuate the lie that all Democrats want open borders. Why? Is this fun? Is someone trying to gain political advantage from it?

Why the big lie?

This is surreal. First of all, we now have at least 11 million illegal aliens living in the U.S., hardly a sign that we have done a "reasonably good job" of apprehending and processing those who illegally cross our border.

Second, many elected Democrats do, for all intents and purposes, want an open border. Few will come out and actually say "open border," but they want to tear down the border wall, want to severely restrict DHS's ability to deport illegals apprehended at the border, and want to prevent ICE from apprehending and deporting illegal aliens who have made it to our cities. You say you don't want an open border, but then you turn around and support policies that would create an open border. If we have no barrier, if it's extremely difficult to deport an illegal caught at the border, and if Democrat-run cities make themselves "sanctuary cities" and refuse to cooperate with ICE to catch illegal aliens, then we have an open border for all intents and purposes.

Immigration is political third rail. It makes for a great wedge issue.
you missed a very important adjective....ILLEGAL

Illegal immigration is....the GOP and most Americans,. don't like it, and are against it...the left is for it, and encourages it.

It's really that simple

Its still a political third rail. Carping about it during election cycles seems to take precedence over actually fixing the problem.

Do you support a path to citizenship for 'illegals?'
depends...certainly for the so called "dreamers' - not for the adults...or at least not til they are first deported, then start the process

You shouldn't be able to skip in front of the line, because you violated the law. We should have all learned that in grade school...butting in line is wrong

I don't disagree...we need action from Congress, which has seemed to fail for years now...Congress doesn't want to act...and even when they have folks willing to compromise, they still don't act.

NO they can go home and do it the legal way.

How is allowing anyone who walks into our country to stay without going thru any immigration process NOT an open border policy?

Kelly Conway said it best, "We like alternative Facts."
I still can't believe she actually meant that.

Your chart is a LIE.

Put out by Ron Johnson.
Why not look at the REAL statistics from the link I provided rather than
the "Alternative Facts" created by staffers for Ron Johnson.

Simple, because both the lemmings in the Republican Party and the lemmings in the Democrat Party are engaged in an ever escalating contest to see who can tell the biggest lies, so far, it's a TIE.

As far as this particular "big lie" goes, as far as I can tell, the Republicans that keep perpetuating it have no clue as to what the phrase "open borders" actually means or they know and don't really care that they're misusing it.
