Why do our representatives fail us?

Because they work in a political/electoral "system" that incentivizes and rewards their worst impulses & behaviors.

A big part of the problem is that there is little or no deterrence to misbehavior. Lying, cheating, fraud, and corruption are not punished, maybe because it's politically inconvenient to punish somebody on your side and difficult to get a conviction on either side. Our reps are lawyers or have good lawyers on their payrolls who are well-schooled in making sure sufficient evidence never sees the light of day in a courtroom. Justice is in short supply in the highest levels of our gov't.

That is beginning to change. Lots and lots of bad actors are getting fired losing their jobs right now and even the governors of NY and ILL are getting sued and threatened with arrest. Stay tuned.

Every regular average citizen should consider the fact, they throw us bones when we complain enough.
We do not need kings. WE need LOTS more honest government.

Because they are ordinary people with no more skills or knowledge than the average person. In fact, many have less experience in the real world than most. What they do have are positions of power and influence, which are largely misused, as history shows.
They fail us because they don’t work for us and don’t care about issues that concern us. They are bought and paid for by the wealthy elite, who give their campaigns millions. Hence, they do what the wealthy elite want which is almost always at odds with the interests of the American people.

It’s a corrupt system in which money equals political power. When will Americans realize this?

We citizens are part of the problem. If we do our part government can shrink.

Very true, but this requires we unite against the elite. The elite know if we unite, they’re power and wealth are jeopardized. Hence they do all they can to divide us using the media and politicians, which they control. So they push division using propaganda to fool Americans into opposing the supporters of the other party. Sadly too many Americans are stuck in the two party matrix opposing each other, rather than the true culprit. We see this played out on this forum every day.

We aren’t in an ideological or political war or a cultural war. We are in a class war and the elite class is winning easily.

They're a reflection of the American people who are largely retarded across the board.
I don't vote for lawyers.....They are scum.

I've yet to vote for Ben Cline (R-VA-6) because he's a lawyer that replaced another lawyer and both are in the pocket of Tyson Foods.....I just leave that space blank.

I won't vote for local lawyers or anyone they support either.....They never saw a patch of land they did not want to build-out. All are in the pocket of developers.

The local gop is run by a cabal of lawyers and the joke is you only need to drive by the local gop HQ to see which local hopeful not to vote for. ;)

I think it requires taking responsibility and doing the right things for ourselves and our families. For example, there would be no need for the Department of Education if kids paid attention in class. Same with many other departments of government that are tasked with dealing with the failures of the citizenry.

They don't fail anyone in their own states. They only fail those in the other 49 states.
