This is very complicated and very, very scary. What will it take for the Russian on the street to see where Putin is leading them? Will it take another world war? Will it take a Regime Change in the Kremlin?

Unless something unforeseen happens, this war is going to drag on into 2023. But instead of reinvigorating Mother Russia, as many of the 83% suppose...the war may bring Russia to it's knees and see a monumental shift in support for the totalitarian, Putin.

Putin will never stand on the stage with the leaders of developed countries again, as he would be risking arrest for war crimes, of which evidence is now being compiled.

It's becoming more and more clear that there are just many people who want an aggressive, hyper-nationalist, authoritarian strongman to lead them. They want to be led.

We've learned that here, since 2016.

I would say many of those in the MAGA camp may hold that belief, but many in positions of influence are just too scared to admit that TFG is a worthless POS. They know they will be attacked and called a RINO. TFG is nothing more than a bully who has a strangle hold over the repub party. No one every invisioned, before 2016, that we would have a Mafia Boss sitting in the Oval Office.

They learned from the best. trump has been demeaning good people for years...and his cult drool over his evert insult.
Watch one of those rallies and the interviews of the attendees. They all say the same things: "He talks like us", "he says things we wish we could say".

His childish temperament and behaviors validate and excuse theirs. That has to be a big part of this. This is who they are.

In other words, Hillary was right....many of these people are "deplorables." (at which time, 80% are searching through their dictionary for the definition)

Russia is tied up in wartime patriotism

Will that patriotism survive 100,000 deaths and an economy patterned after North Korea

Why do 83% of Russians support Putin?

Put simply, they support Putin because Putin is 100% Russia First; preserving the Russian culture bar none.

A lot easier to understand frankly than how 40% of democrats can still support Biden who puts Americans last and is working tirelessly to destroy America's culture.

The only country that can help Russia now is China. And China has it's own economic problems. The body bags will continue to pile up for Pootin. I am just not too sure how high they have to rise to open the eyes of the Russian on the street.

What is the limit to blind nationalism? We know that an attempted insurrection will not break the bonds of blind cult-like loyalty. For a few days I thought it would...then the lies about a "normal tourist visit" and I realized that the hold of trumpism was an addiction.

So it is with the nationalism that Pootin has built in Russia. It will take generations to break the spell.

Exactly. And now the Biddum has put his foot in our mouth,
China and Russia and other countries are going to build
bridges together free of the US dollar sending our
economy into the drink, and we have all the
Bidenistas and Never-Trumpers to
thank when it happens.

jim you forgot to bring trump into this story....
Because Trump has nothing to do with Jim opinion piece.

Pootin is and will be a wanted man until his death either by old age, hanging or some other way, but a wanted man!

Nothing will change their mind because after many years dealing with savages like the Slavs of Russia I can tell ya this they enjoy misery!

This was China, Russia, Iran, India and Saudi Arabia plan all the long, so as much as I dislike Biden this has been building since George H.W. Bush days and now there is no way to stop it unless we want war…
