And then the desegregation mandate of schools, that didn't fix anything, it just got worse. What the hell does that even mean? Remember the North Hollywood bank robbers had way more fire power than the LAPD? The North Hollywood shootout, 20 years later

Wrong.
The LA bank robbers only had full auto AK-47s or AK-74s, I do not remember which.
But it does not matter which, because they are no more powerful than the full auto ARs the police have.
The reason the bank robbers lasted so long is they had lots of body armor, and were far more motivated.
The police were inept.

The reality is the police foolishly just rush in, thinking they will be able to intimidate the criminals into running for it.
They should never do that, as it results in massive accidental deaths by innocents caught in the cross fire.
They should instead hold back, use the radios, let the criminals leave, and surround them later with vastly superior numbers.

Most police in England are unarmed, and that saves lots of lives.

Every one in their right mind should want to get rid of police.
There have no legal standing.
No one can more "authority" than anyone else in a democratic republic.
Police THINK they do, so are a clear and present danger to us all.
Look at the Constitution, there is nothing that could create police legally.
They are trained to be indifferent to lives and have no problem killing people without trial.
They obviously should not exist and only make us less safe, not more.

It is a straw-man.

Nobody of real influence or gravitas is urging the end of police forces.
Rather, there is a righteous movement towards re-training, re-directing, re-imagining the forces that enforce the laws of various jurisdictions to do it in a manner that minimizes these killings of men of color. To enforce our appropriate law with less expense. With better effect.

Do we need Stryker vehicles for our local forces to pick up drunks on Saturday night?
Do we need heavily armed/Kevlar protected forces to intervene in an argument between spouses?

The point of this movement to re-focus policing ------is to do it better for our society.

The LAPD was only armed with pistols and shotguns. Officers had to go to a nearby gun shop and borrow AR 15s and ammo. The robbers had far more firepower and much better armor than LAPD.

  It is true all three of the ladies the poster "Jim H." identifies are junior members of Congress...backbenchers.....but they have been vigilant and consistent in their skepticism towards how policing is performed today in America.
  
  Those three ladies...from New York, Michigan and Minnesota .... comprise .056% of today's Congressional voices. They, like many new members of Congress have strident and insistent voices. But, they don't get much done. Not until they've been there for a long time and demonstrated gravitas.
