Why Conservatives Hate Free Speech

Dem PROJECTION at it's finest. The violently INTOLERANT Democrats dare start this thread, it's laughable.

The conservative movement has spent the days following the shocking murder of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk attacking a bedrock American value: free speech.

In the most high-profile incident, the Federal Communications Commission pressured ABC parent The Walt Disney Company to sideline talk show host Jimmy Kimmel after he made a joke mocking President Donald Trump’s response to Kirk’s death. This followed CBS canceling “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” shortly after the network paid a $16 million settlement to President Donald Trump over how “60 Minutes” edited an interview with Kamala Harris.

Vice President JD Vance and senior White House aide Stephen Miller have argued that a crackdown on left-of-center groups is necessary to stop people from telling the truth about what a bigot and conspiracy theorist Kirk was.

To give cover to their war on speech, conservatives have declared nearly everything they oppose politically as “woke,” and then pushed for the removal of “woke” things— including speech and diversity—from public and private institutions and individuals.

Conservatism has a serious problem when it comes to competing in an open war of ideas. Many conservative priorities, like racism and economic policies bent around the desires of the ultra-wealthy, are not popular with the public at large. To allow an open exchange of ideas is to allow for the chance that liberalism and the Democratic Party might succeed.

Good article, but the author could have just said they are all scared little snowflakes, and saved bandwidth.

Christianists are the worst.
/-----/ As a side note, the Obamas told CBS to fire Roseanne from her own show, and Upchuck Schumer told Fox to fire Tucker Carlson.

I wonder if Democrats realize that they're accusing Republicans of everything THEY do. The question is, why are they doing this. Because they're too braindead to do their own thinking, or are they just stupid, or maybe it's their way of steering attention away from their newfound communist ideology. Any way you look at it, Democrats are conmen.

We just endured the four years of a mentally impaired president who allowed the Country be run by a person or persons unknown while the federal law enforcement agencies were weaponized in support of liberalism. Concerned parents in Virginia became terrorist suspects for complaining about the treatment of their kids. Trump was impeached on the basis of fraudulent faked documents and he was indicted on frivolous charges. His home was invaded by militarized federal cops and his wife's underwear drawer was even violated by federal cops allegedly looking for classified documents. When that didn't work the crazy TDS left set him up for two assassination attempts. Now the crazy TDS left wants to quote the Constitution in defense of an unfunny comic who was costing more than he was worth? WTF?
“Why Conservatives Hate Free Speech”

Conservatives hate free speech because it allows the truth and facts to be expressed, exposing the fact that conservative dogma is failed, dishonest, and wrongheaded.

Conservatives hate free speech because it conflicts with the spread of rightwing disinformation, conspiracy theories, and lies.

And conservatives hate free speech because it facilitates diversity, inclusion, and expressions of individual liberty – all of which conservatives fear and disdain.

Lets compare the progressive woke reaction to free speech
2 attempts on Trumps life
Murder of Charlie Kirk
7 trans mass shooters targeting children at Christian schools
Left wing protests loot burn and are violent. With the full support of democrats

You know I dont see much of a comparison here. You people kill to stop speech

Hmmmmm.

Free speech is anathema to republicans who call themselves conservatives but are fascist at best. I admit Vance surprised me. I read his book years ago and he seemed rational and intelligent not the sort of person who kowtows to a wannabee fascist. But power and privilege often corrupt.

Fascism comes into being with unchecked power of corporations. Conservatism lost any value it had when the virtues of the Constitution were abandoned for shareholder value.

Thus, the corruption of power and privilege. This was put into check by FDR in the 1930's, and has been abandoned by using the rhetoric of the fascist right to sell the "other" taking away the privilege that only the powerful and corrupt are entitled to.

All of which can easily be fixed by simply reverting back to the New Deal policies of FDR including the prohibitive anti trust laws, regulations, and tax rates imposed on the privileged, powerful, and corrupt.

Fascism concentrates power in the government. Thats what democrats do. Trump is reducing the power of government. Democrats insert it i not every aspect of our personal lives

We want free speech. We want the competition. You aren’t capable of competing is why your side resorted to bullets. You couldn’t win on the battlefield of ideas so you became violent and killed someone.

Don’t give me this you’re free speech when you resort to killing when you lose.
Well that's a lie. If you wanted free speech you'd be calling this current bullshit out.

RWNJ violence outweighs that from the left by orders of magnitude.

2 attempts on Trumps life, Kirk murdered, 7 trans mass shooters, left wing protests become violent with looting and burning and many acts of violence funded by democrats. Its not even close. Relentless hate speech from democrats is creating killers.

LMAO!! both supposed "assassins" were disillusioned tRumplings, Son.

Kirks killer is a MAGAt larvae.

Most political violence is from the right.

It's just a fact.

And there haven't been 7 trans shooters, that's just a blatant lie.

We've seen that being anti-free speech isn't a partisan issue, since both parties have engaged in it over the last 20 years. First the Left and now the Right.

The bigger problem is hardcore ideology, which leads to authoritarian behaviors.

So it's not Left vs. Right, it's authoritarian ideology vs. independent freedom of expression.

And of course, there is big disagreement about what information is "false."

Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on the rights of the individual, liberty, consent of the governed, political equality, the right to private property, and equality before the law.
Maybe 30 years ago. That isnt even a remotely close description of "liberals" today.
