Why Cant I Post Links From My Phone?

YouTube and Rumble and a few others are handled without a tool to insert them into the editor. Just drop the RAW Utube URL + code into a new line in your post.

Looks like this ---

----https://youtu.be/4DIBYFZ-g3U---- without the dashes.
Again, nope. I told you all what I have to do.

Again, strip out the "https://" in notepad then type it back into your editor. I have to do this with ANY link

Never had to type a link back into the USMB editor. Workstation or mobile.

Were you using a "helper app" on mobile to access USMB?

Show me an image link that doesn't directly get handled by the "Insert Image" tool. It's the TV picture looking icon - in the USMB editor toolbar.

Put it here. I'll check.

I have no idea what a "helper app" is, but I don't have any trouble posting images although I use "attach file" to do that. But taping the upload icon does nothing

The standard forum software format isn't designed to be used in phones which is why you and other phone users complain many times here
Everything worked fine until February. SOMETHING CHANGED

Good grief means I ain't interested in buying a tablet when I have a phone, laptop and desktop.

And no, IVE ALREADY SAID I CANT POST LINKS ON THIS FORUM FROM MY LAPTOP. NOT SINCE FEBRUARY

Here's an example of what I can't do today that I used to do 6 weeks ago.

I couldn't post this link unless I strip off the "https://", paste the text, then add the https:// manually

That;s not an image file. Or a Utube video. That's Bongino's home page.
Here's the same link text embedded into the USMB editor.

What OSystem are U running when you captured that link.

Because the BOLDING of the https is embedding something. Wont recognize it as a link without the "Link" tool from the USMB editor. Weird.

But in the post above, it links just fine if you use the LINK tool. (The 2nd time it appears in the post above.

OUR url now is secured and https -- but our links work just fine tossing them raw into the editor. Gotz something to do with OS or browser embedding something. OR maybe some malware protection that you are running. Anything NEW with your system?

When did your phone get a new update?

We dont own any of our devices anymore. The tech tyrants do. They can change and install anytthing/anytime and make life a living hell if you try to stop them.

That's the likely cause. If he's punching a "share" button rather copying the link direct -- that bolding might be a block on the site that is recognized by Facebook/Twitter/ect.

Death Angel

Transfer the Bongino link from your phone using the BROWSER URL window. Dont use share or other buttons. EMAIL it to your laptop/desktop and try dropping it raw into the USMB editor.

It is why I use it for Texts only (Deaf I am) and never for internet or google stuff as the security for phones are a joke.

The problem is the BOLDING of the https:// part. If I unbold it -- it links RAW in our editor. Dont need to retype it.

So - your phone (where I assume you're GETTING the link) is using the bolding to code the text a certain way for how you "share it".. And I'll bet it's a new feature to force you to use "approved" shares or some CHANNELING of the links you grab.

NEVER SEEN that kind of bolding in a raw link before. Try taking the link direct from the BROWSER URL window and see if it works.

We're not doing this to you. Your phone is. I can tell you an easy way to fix the "formatting" in URL code that your phone is suddenly adding. URL "encoding" is a real thing that can be exploited to channel links only to where "THEY" want them to go.

https://bonginoreport.com/

That's the raw link with the "encoded" bolding in it.

Highlight the entire link in the editor and then choose the "3 vertical dots" (more) at the right of the editor tools. From the drop-down choose the leftmost "Remove Formatting" icon. Then it links with no issues.

Should never be "bolding" in URL links if you want them to be GENERALLY read by ALL apps and platforms.

When I pasted the bolded link into MSoft Edge -- it resolved the bolding and found the link. I think maybe you've been googled or microsofted...

In URL encoding, you sometimes see a lot of %20 symbols in a link. That's the encoding for a space character because the URL scheme doesn't allow spaces. That's a legitimate use. But now some new scheme might allow a different "control character" to selectively BOLD URL text. Like the spyware/malware tools on your phone perhaps. To ALERT you that the link is "secured", they bold that portion of the URL.

THAT screws up any text editor that doesn't know to REMOVE that formatting. And thus it CAN be used to channel "shared URLs" only thru the APPS they WANT it to be channeled. That's my guess.

If you know where to locate the spyware/malware tools on your phone, go into settings -- maybe Advanced Settings -- and see if there is a switch to turn off URL bolding (or encoding).

I know. Regular links are the problem.

Never said I couldn't post images. You must have missed my previous post where I posted an image. I was giving another example of what I dovto post a link

Links in the text box refuse to paste.

I don't have this issue on another political forum (different forum software)
