Why are Trump's tax returns so important again?

Something like this should not be done to a President without clear smoke. Hoping to find something usable isn't smoke.

So all this means is that the cycle will continue. Investigations and rumors and "scandals" on every President, every candidate.

We wouldn't allow our children to behave like this. We should be ashamed. But of course, we're not.
.

The massive trove of Fred Trump financial documents obtained by the NY Times show that Trump was raised to be a pathological tax cheat. He has probably never really paid taxes at all. They are also needed to show if he committed fraud by misrepresenting his income to banks and insurance companies. Lastly they are just something we should all expect from the people who want to lead our country.

Clearly, opinions matter the utmost mostest in these matters.

Bullshit, Trump was put under a microscope and came out clean.
Again...please pay attention....the iivestigations into his finances, his loans, and his company are still ongoing. The only one that touched his personal finances that has finished ended up with a court filing saying trump directed the commission of a felony.

And the only one that touched one of his private organivations -- his charity -- resulted in it being shut down for fraud.

Oh wait, there was another: his university. Same result

I mean if you want a serious answer, sure. But this isn't really a forum for serious or productive discussion.

It represents a transgression against a political norm that had been held for some 40 years previous. Releasing tax returns was an extremely nominal commitment to transparency, but Trump can't even bring himself to pretend to be transparent.

Catching something would be nice, not gonna lie. But it's more a symbolic issue about the erosion of norms, and holding Trump to the same standards we hold everyone else.

We didn't hire an everyone else this time.

We hired a non-political not everyone else.

Why are Trump's tax returns so important again?

Nixon.
And did they find Nixon evading any taxes? If they did it's news to me. If anyone needs exposure it's those claiming to be bleeding hearts and Trump isn't one of those so there's no need. However the democrats like Pelosi, Sanders, Schumer etc. are another story. I want to see if there are walls around their estates while we're at it. If we don't find homeless encampments on their estates, something is amiss.

This is actually a serious question. There have been so many accusations and "scandals" and rumors and investigations and breaking news stories and blockbusters and leaks and final straws and assumptions over the last several years that it can be difficult to keep track.

Obviously there must be some smoke here, and the goal is to discover the fire so that he can be brought down.

So what's the smoke?

Again, serious question.
.
Because he is clearly hiding something. And finding out what the president is hiding matters.

Go sit in a circle with your other hive members so you can form the worlds largest dope ring.
Man you are a crybaby.

Me???

I'm not the one applying Preparation H to his asshole 3x a day over not seeing Trumps taxes.

Considering they have audited him every year since his announcing he was running, I guarantee you they have been gone over with a fine tooth comb by Obama’s IRS. They want to see his worth, they don’t believe him. And then can scream again.
Why are Trump's tax returns so important again?
Nixon.
So, political payback?
.

Political payback? No, after Nixon's tax returns were made public - he owed the IRS $500,000.00.
So, what could be.

No smoke, though?

Wow, four pages in and NO ONE seems to have a good reason for wanting to see Trumps taxes....what a surprise.

It has never been established that he has ever been audited, that's just his weak excuse for not releasing them.

I assumed there was smoke, that there was evidence out there that led the Dems to believe that all they needed to see was his tax returns. I was wondering what that smoke was. I was even a little embarrassed that I had forgotten.

Looks like I hadn't forgotten. This is all based on hoping something unknown will be found.

I voted for Hillary. I don't like Trump. But that is transparent gotcha partisan politics, and I'm just not a fan of that.

There is nothing "gotcha" about holding every candidate to the same standard, especially if it is a good standard. Was setting term limits for presidents after FDR a "partisan gotcha?" No, it was good for everyone in the long term, to prevent a Putin situation where a "democratic" leader elects his way to what is basically a dictatorship.

A standard where everyone releases tax returns is good for everyone in the long term, as it lets politicians get away with less bullshit.

And for some reason you feel the IRS can't do their job?

I don't care. I want to see them, personally, just like I could with all previous presidential candidates. Why wouldn't you want to be able to see as much of your leader's finances as possible?

Why have other candidates released theirs? If there is no law then why have others released theirs? I don't care what happens either way but the whole political climate ENTERTAINS me. It is comical and that's my view on it.

You know if he wasn’t it would have been leaked. They’ve thrown everything else but the kitchen sink at him. I take that back, including the kitchen sink.

Well, because my seeing his taxes won't do a damn thing to improve my life, nor would it have any affect on how he runs the country.

You are clearly hiding something as well, we need to see your taxes.

No others were billionaires with such complicated business transactions. And I suspect at this point, to also piss people off.

There is an excellent reason to demand the tax returns. It takes the attention away from the Russian hoax/spying scandal.

So they audit Trump's taxes every year but you claim he has cheated and not paid any taxes? Why has the IRS figured this out? Do you think Congress is better at examining taxes than the IRS? How do you know what information he gave to the banks and insurance companies? Are the banks and insurance companies claiming he did? And how would one know?
