Why are Trump's tax returns so important again?

This is actually a serious question. There have been so many accusations and "scandals" and rumors and investigations and breaking news stories and blockbusters and leaks and final straws and assumptions over the last several years that it can be difficult to keep track.

Obviously there must be some smoke here, and the goal is to discover the fire so that he can be brought down.

So what's the smoke?

Again, serious question.
.

The Democrats want to get out the envy vote.
More likely, they want to further expose him as a fraud, and also look into the LLCs paying him and his company.

I assumed there was smoke, that there was evidence out there that led the Dems to believe that all they needed to see was his tax returns. I was wondering what that smoke was. I was even a little embarrassed that I had forgotten.

Looks like I hadn't forgotten. This is all based on hoping something unknown will be found.

I voted for Hillary. I don't like Trump. But that is transparent gotcha partisan politics, and I'm just not a fan of that.

There is nothing "gotcha" about holding every candidate to the same standard, especially if it is a good standard. Was setting term limits for presidents after FDR a "partisan gotcha?" No, it was good for everyone in the long term, to prevent a Putin situation where a "democratic" leader elects his way to what is basically a dictatorship.

A standard where everyone releases tax returns is good for everyone in the long term, as it lets politicians get away with less bullshit.

And for some reason you feel the IRS can't do their job?

I don't care. I want to see them, personally, just like I could with all previous presidential candidates. Why wouldn't you want to be able to see as much of your leader's finances as possible?

Well, because my seeing his taxes won't do a damn thing to improve my life, nor would it have any affect on how he runs the country.
Why would you want tax returns?
Its easy to answer, when republicans wanted Warren Buffet's tax returns for example.
We already have Hillary's and Obama's tax returns, but you can imagine the shitstorm if we didnt have them.

This is why they wanted Buffet's returns:
“Will Warren Buffett release his tax returns so we can see why he should be the standard for tax policy?” Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) questioned in a tweet Thursday.

Ask the IRS when they ask you/audit you for not claiming gains on your yard sale........or Craigslist

It seems odd that the OP would ask the questioninthe thread title, and then ignore all the rational answers and only respond to the braying cultists.

Hopefully the IRS can handle it. Perhaps you can apply for an IRS job?

He ain't as rich as he claims to be, ("only" around $5B) he doesn't give as much to charity as he could, and he likely doesn't pay much in taxes.....billionaires don't...ask Bezos. The Rats are just window-peeking...they'll never see his tax returns and they know it.

1. What does much in taxes mean? so you dont' want people playing by the rules???

2. He ain't as rich as he claims and why does that bother you?

3. He doesn't give that much to charity as he could and who decides how much he should give, you?

**** off....nobody here supports Trump more than me, asshole.,

Its all about the personal motivation that a leader has for setting tax policy.
Are they doing it for their own purposes, or the good of the people?

And provide cheap healthcare for all, very easily... And win trade wars very easily...and make countries disarm themselves of all nukes, very easily... And cut taxes and reduce deficits, simultaneously, vert easily.... And have the biggest inauguration crowds ever, period, no matter what the photos show...

Good summation, dickhead....he's kept his promises...something your commissars don't do or even remember making them.

So, political payback?
.
Trump has to be the cleanest president in history. Liberals unlawfully raided his lawyers office. Had unlimited ways and money to investigate anything Muller wanted, and he came up with nothing. Hillary wouldn't survive what Trump has been through.
All the investigations into trump's personal finances, his company, and his loans are still ongoing. The only one that has ended was finished off with a court filing saying trump directed the comission of a felony.
Bullshit, Trump was put under a microscope and came out clean. Now Hillary and Obama should get the same treatment.

Hillary and Obama have always released their tax returns. Where's Trump's?
None of your business snoopenheimer...MYOB.

Its not a big deal in its self, as every other modern president has released its kind of a reassuring deal, & when a president works so hard not too, it makes you wonder.

In my humble opinion, I believe they simply want anything to embarrass President Donald Trump. After the election, they "KNEW" his tax returns would prove, beyond any shadow of a doubt that there was collusion and that President Putin was paying President Trump.

BLAM, that has exploded in their faces so they are desperate to find anything else. They are in an incredible panic because now the investigations they demanded are finding who are the real criminals. Something the Democrats knew would continue to be covered up by Hillary Clinton being in the Oval Office. Master builder of coverups and intimidation.

Why won't President Donald Trump release his tax returns? Part is that it is nobody's business. A contributing factor is that he knows it sticks in Democrat's craw and eats at them. Just as Trump going after failed former President Barack Hussein Obama's long form birth certificate. Unlike Hillary Clinton who started the rumors, Trump was able to force Obama to disclose the, supposed, real one.

Oh, there is definitely truth to that. As in, they expect that to be the least of what they get by getting his tax returns.

Dems need something to just muddy the water in the next election cycle, just like the nothing burger they had muddying the water in the midterm election.
They have no agenda they can run on, so it's make up something to confuse the people in not voting for Trump.
It's a political game the libbies like to play.....such sheep. sad
