WEll, the season is upon us. My husband is in bed sick as a dog,my daughter just getting over it,and my son and I starting to get it-a serious head and chest cold that is. To top it off,my son comes home with a letter from school today saying that there is a student in school that has been diagnosed with Whooping cough. It said that although most children are vaccinated for this, there have more cases in the area than usual. You would think this kind of thing wouldn't happen since kids are vaccinated for this. Oddly enough though,my son got terribly sick when he was three and it went on for over 2 weeks. The doctors finally treated him for whooping cough even though he had been vaccinated for it. They weren't positive, but wanted to be on the safe side. It all makes me wonder how effective that vaccination is. I believe the real name is pertussis? Anyone know much about it?
