An oft-quoted quote from the Jewish Talmud. Watching some video show on MSNBC this afternoon, a story using security footage from a school shows a girl collapse as her heart stopped. PE coaches come to her rescue starting CPR and eventually using a 'automated external defibrillator' which shocks the heart to get it beating again but designed to be used by non-medical personnel. It works and the girl lives.

Found myself thinking whoever invented the thing should get some kind of award or acknowledgement, and certainly the PE coaches and everyone else who uses the thing to save someone. Whatever sins they may have commited prior, whatever mistakes they'd made in their lives, all that goes away when they save someone's life. And that act stays with them the rest of their's.

While having an opportunity to save someone's life is fortunately rare, buying life-saving technology like these AEDs is a very real way you can save a life. If your kids' school doesn't have one already, should see about getting them one. Cost about $1200 which is nothing is just one child gets saved.

Lots of life-saving technology is easily affordable and if you help get them, soon as you hear about their being used, you're on cloud 9 for the rest of your life.
