And sadly, I contributed to her air of superiority and entitlement by stepping aside for her not only once, voluntarily, but a second time, when she threw down the gauntlet.

In my defense, I didn’t want to be shoved into the mud. The girl was absolutely not going to defer to an older white.

You are absolutely right. She was not going to defer to an older white. She would have immediately attacked you. When dealing with black people you must approach the situation as if you were approaching a rabid animal, they can't be predicted or trusted. They have no internal curbs. They are pure hate and instinct.

Well, to be fair, you have to judge people individually. I know some very nice black people.

But one has to judge the circumstances. I expected, after I stopped and allowed her to proceed first (the initial time), that she would smile and return the courtesy (the second time). When she planted her feet firmly in front of me, glared at me, and made it clear she was NOT going to move for a white, I spoke and said I’d like to walk by. That’s when she pointed to the muddy area and said I could walk there.

I then knew what I was dealing with, and not wanting a physical altercation or even a nasty verbal attack, I deferred to Her Royal Highness a second time. It was a smart decision to cut my losses.

I was out for my morning walk, in this misty weather, and approached a section of the path that was mostly muddy and wet, with a smallish area of dry pavement.

On the opposite side approaching was a black woman in her 40s. It appeared that we would both arrive at the wet area at the same time.

Now, even though I am a senior citizen and it would be polite for her to yield to me (thats what I was taught), I instead gave her the right-of-way. I stopped ahead of the wet area, and allowed her to cross.

She kept walking, and I started walking (she knew I waited for her), and I thought she would set slightly to the side and let me by. NOPE. It was like the North Going Grinch and the South Going Grinch. She just glared at me, not budging, and I said “I just want to get by.”

She glared back, pointed to a muddy area, and said “that’s how you can get by.” So, I yielded the right of way to her a 2nd time, and she walked past, with a smirk.

Q: I know that there is a lot of anti-white racism going on, a total lack of common courtesy, and general disrespect from younger people to older, so tell me: was this a black racist who wasn’t going to “submit” to a white woman, or was she just a *****?

Here's a better question: why was your first observation about this "nasty" woman that she was black?

I've had a person key my car a few months ago because I got to a parking spot he wanted. My first inclination was not to get on the internet and complain about that person's race.

There are a whole bunch of internet sites that discuss how blacks once had to step off the sidewalk if a white was approaching in the opposite direction. I'm sure that happened somewhere, but I also suspect those stories are deeply exaggerated or mostly fake.

My guess is the that OP is aware of the sidewalk stories where coloreds allegedly had to defer to whiteyy. The OP simply took that story, reversed the roles, and changed a few details.
