Seems she placed bread crumbs on city property, since it was outside of her property line.
City offices usually frown on people feeding animals in public, because it can cause an invasion of animals to that specific area.
And if they set up shop in that area, they can do damage to property......depending on what animals they are. They can also cause irregular noises occurring during the night and early hours, waking people up. They can also get into basements, attics, and garages.
I don't condone feeding squirrels in your yard, but do it ON YOUR PROPERTY. Then you are covered if anybody tries to keep you from doing it. Some cities do have laws regarding feeding "wild animals" though.
She obviously didn't want the squirrels on her property, since she fed them on the street. Which means she knows exactly what she was doing.
The man was cleaning it up to keep the squirrels away, but he was also doing it for the squirrels protection.
Squirrels coming to eat that bread could have been attacked by dogs, large birds, or ran over by violent drivers.
So it was as much for the squirrels safety as it was to keep them away.
Legally, she is at fault 100%.
My opinion is that nothing was wrong with putting crumbs out, but she ended my backing of this when she hit that man.
Nope. Not gonna back a criminal.
The man should have explained to her why he was sweeping it up. I'm sure the woman wouldn't want road kill at the end of her driveway.
